Fallout 4 review

Yes I realize I am late to this, most people won't be swayed either way I stand on the game, what I say or what stance I take in terms of purchasing this game by the name of Fallout 4.  This post really isn't for the well informed about the game but rather the new flock of new gamers who have never played a fallout game, shocking I know right but the same thing happened when fallout 3 came out. A bunch of new gamers who never picked up a game jump on board of gaming and picked up their first fallout game, months  even years after fallout 3 was out and all of its DLC.

Fallout 4 for those who are entirely out of the gaming loop or exclusivily play on certain platforms, or don't play those type of games. It is a post-apotilipictic action based First person shooter with role playing game features with a heaviy base focused on level design, story, and non-cutscene driven focus gameplay with scripted events.

The game is suppose to take place in the Boston area this time and well the size of the world is massive, even going outside the pipboy map area. Oh yeah a pipboy is a wrist computer you use to navigate, set your stats, and manage your inventory.

Enough said the game has a large amount of weapons, which now you can modify into better weapons. Gone is the weapon crafting from scratch & ammo crafting for various types of ammo but just weapon modifications and armor modifcations.

Also power armor modifcations, which includes power armor with jetpacks. Power armor behaves very differently in this game, you can hold more items yes but items now weigh more and power armor can take individual piece damage and break. Similar to limb damage in past games. Power armor now requires fusion cores which deplete in use like batteries.

Regular armor is now split up into various different pieces aswell for left & right limbs and 1 chest piece a helmet and  under lining.

As for the story fallout 4 Kinda falls short massively. As soon as the game builds up to person who fights & saves 1 faction the game ends. You would think that there would be more quests for each faction but there is 2 generics repeats, then around 5 main quests for each faction.

The factions are The railroad, the institute, the minuet men, and the brotherhood of steal. The institute is a bunch of scientists trying to survive underground who kidnapped a large portion of the common wealth(name of place you are in), including your son, and replacing them with synthetic humanoids or synths for short. You have to go break into the institute to find your son(main general quest basically only one of these).

The railroad is a faction that is trying to save all the synths from the institute, and frees them with false memories, names, and identities.

The minuet men are a faction design to save the common person from dangers and protect them as a armed militia.

The brotherhood of steal are a group of people only interested in technology and getting it with no care for anyone else but that technology and will kill as many people as they can to get advancements in technology. These guys wage war on the entire common wealth.

Every ending comes up to being the same almost though in this game so have no remorse for slaughtering one group or all the other groups but one. This is one of the main reasons why it falls short of being a decent fallout title as well as the introduction to features that just make the game more hetitic. Such as maintaining settlements from raiders, supermutants, and Gunners(a faction you can't join really as far as I know).

The game just tries too hard to be high graphical, the game requires way more than it should and isn't optimized in the slightest, I had to get another 8 gigs of ram just to run the game even though it claims to recommend 8gb of ram which isn't enough, you need at least 16gb and that is on lowest settings. The graphics are not even that high the game is just really really badily optimized and pixelation and other odd things happen so often along with game crashes. Literally every 2 hours I would have to restart up fallout 4 becahse it decided to crash, and no my PC is well above minium requirements. It actually looks lower than fallout 3 in the world model polycount for objects it is the player & monster models that look high required but even then not nearly as much as bethesda poorly tries to justify.

The game is a absolute mess, I enjoyed the crap out of the gameplay but the story is lacking and so short... bugs run rampet everywhere you go, and dialog trees got dumbed down, choices matter.... not... It just doesn't feel like a fallout game really. Its ok but not good, the companions are useless as they ever have been, there are a few companion missions based off your relationship, some are difficult as hell while others are simply fill out dialog tree. A lot of Good ideas with poor execution.

Steam controller Possible Easter EGG

When purchasing a steam controller there is various aspects that make it unique as a controller. But there also maybe secrets on the device it self.  Two of which stand out once opening up the battery backing.
One being 2 metal pin connectors, possibly for a add on battery pack outside from 2 AA to add more battery life. The second is the QR code-like image that contains data, similar to how baracodes store data. But that isn't exactly a QR code that can be read with a standard QR code reader app, I have been unable too.

This information could be nothing, since it is located near the FCC & other manitory device information or it could be something. More than likely it is nothing though. Those pin connectors at the top are copper based, which means conductors, the plastic case battery case backing goes into those holes. Which has a double functional use, if those conductors are for power. So we could be seeing a steam controller lithium ion battery pack later on, the controller also has USB charging port for some reason or another which just adds another reason to add a lithium ion battery pack.
Check out my steam controller review for more details here.

Making a skeleton Front view

Currently making a front view skeleton animation for 2d sprites, This will allow me to create animated face panels during dialog.

This will create a more clean effect rather than just stand still images, possibly offering more to the game.

Right now the skeleton is crued in terms of polish but that is only to setup everything correctly. So far I have it semetrical limbs using the same sprite flipped which is crued again.

The program I am using is called spriter, it allows me to create limbs into various layers and animate them as if it was 3d with joints You can also swap out images mid animation creating various effects. Right now I just have this ragdoll skeleton. But hand swaps face, and much more would be ideal for animations.Yes I realize full body isn't necessary for face panels. but I could also use this skeleton for IDEL animations in game where the character turns towards the screen. I could also use this skeleton altered as isometric view. I would how ever have to modify the sprites just a bit too but not too far off from face view.

I am also working on a side scrolling skeleton that isn't exactly the same, but is similar to this skeletons design.

Currently I have a base for a 2d side scroller, but I really want to hit newer ground than just that. Right now I am just working on a bunch of assets and hoping to get a bases of a concept of what I want from gameplay standpoint and build my story after words though I am getting ideas left & right about that and if one comes first I may do some story boarding if I like a idea that hits me first.

I can do 3d cutscenes and I actually plan on it.

Either way the engine I am working on is going to be improved even if all else fails agian....
My failures I turn into successes as I just build from them. Not everything from dreamout will be scrapped but some will be, some will just stay in limbo as inaccessible more than likely.

I must continue on till I find something I like. This is at least a step in the right direction.

I may lead a stray from this project but it has bettered me.

Making Sound effects

There are so many methods of creating your own sound effects for games, Sometimes a mix works well but make sure you are matching them up, a misplaced sound effect can completely effect the atmosphere, story, and just ruin the experience. Sound is one of the most important thing in a game.

Pre-made sounds sometimes are the way to go. Purchasing sound packs such as one I made here: Bo's 200 Misc Sound Effects Pack are a good example of a mix of compatible sound effects. All of them were made in the same bit-range, in the same frequency range, and are compressed the same with the same hz range, with a consistency in volume.

You see sound needs to match in so much of a range on frequency, bitrate, volume, and compression because inconsistency can throw off the player, if the goal is to throw off a player than its fine to not follow that but if it isn't you need to think how you want the sound effect to play for that event and how often.

Example of how you might want to make sounds,

For something positive you want a positive sound, for something bad you want  a bad sound.
A locked door attempt to open should sound bad and discouraging to force the player to look for the key, or play a locked door sound when attempting to open in other words. When the player gets hit it shouldn't play a sound for a power up it should play something negative so the player avoids getting hit.

When you have a mismatch sound in frequency, volume, bitrate, or compression:

Frequency is easy enough to adjust in some tools like goldenwave where there is basically a batch process to solve the frequency, bitrate, and compression limitations of a directory of sounds.

Volume how ever is something that can be difficult to actually keep in the same DB range. It is something that has to be assigned basically on creation so be careful and mindful of that. Some engines like construct2 can have you modify the DB range appon playing which can be nice but keep in mind it is not accurately measuring DB, it is just allowing a modifiable scale. 1.0 for a sound in construct 2 is the same as if you were to play the default sound so you might want to test your sounds pre-exporting into your game and make sure they are all the same volume range, and modify them with sound editing programs. Goldenwave allows for this but goldenwave is a free-ware trail software basically.

The Reason why Pre-made sounds are the easy way to go:

Often they are created all in the same program for sound packs, often they avoid these issues, often they do work for somethings, often they do work with game engines. Keep in mind not all sound makers keep consistencies and they do not test their sounds always. It is just common practice to keep quality the same in each sound. Keep in mind sounds can mismatch and be fine but it is just something that has to be done right.

Making your own sounds is difficult but can also be worth it:

Making your own sounds places you in full control, and there are many methods to do it. From recording real life sound effects you made to making sound effects with a program.

Just keep in mind to compress your sounds, keep a consistent frequency range, bitrate, volume, compression, and format.

For example of a real life sound effect:
Reloading FPS Pistol sound: Take a Wii Mote, A perfectshot, quickly pop the wiimote out of the perfectshot; wait a quater second; pop it back in the perfectshot. Record that; edit it in sound editing software to match the already existing sounds ranges, done.

Many game engines, and gaming platforms  have these limitations pre-made for you, you will have to read up on documentation for them to make your sounds, and it may take a bit of work.

You can also make sounds for existing games like this, modify them, and replace sounds in games this way. I've done this with games deemed unmodible by many modding communities with the help of hexeditors aswell to trick games into playing sounds it shouldn't it is fun but very very very difficult. Some games use their own modified versions of already existing formats and just need frequency modifications and bitrate modifications. It depends on the game.

I use to make mods to the source engine & gold source games as well. HLDJ was fun while it lasted too. I used my sounds in my custom maps for hl1&hl2 mods & maps mostly.

How to make animated sprite characters

There are many ways to create 2d based characters, and in the recent years game development has gotten around to even more 3d-ish elements. This post will be going over methods of doing applicated uses of animations.

FLIP BOOK- Hand Drawn Frame by Frame
This methodology is the oldest, it allows for various forms of creativity. It works for every view and every point from isometic to side scrolling to top down. It is also one of the longest time consuming drawing every frame of animation.

This method works well for just about everything, but time consuming.

Layer based- Layer to Layer Transition
Programs like photoshop offer basic transition effects, and movement. Doing this method with layers can create a animated sprite character but is rather limited. It works for top-down and isometric(hard to), and side scrolling.

Recorded 3d -Pre-rendered 3d
Take a 3d model and record its animation-frame by frame of a animation from a specific angle and converting it into 2d images. This method has been done for several generations and even popular games such as Super Mario Maker does this and New Super Mario Bros, and Sonic 4 e1&e2 do this.
It gives the best allusion for 3d in a 2d game, and is done to cut down on performance and allow the games to be able to put on various platforms at times.

Actual 3d concepts- Joints
Take the skeleton idea from 3d models and apply that to 2d images. It allows you to load different images on different layers, it allows you to have clean 3d images all while controlling the number of frames. Some programs like construct2 & spriter work together to create in-game joints without creating a bunch of images and bloat the ram of the GPU, but it takes up ram on the CPU level to do all the math involved in each of the animations saving location ID's on joints, and skeleton points.

This method is the most advance but it only works with certain view points well, side scrolling, top down, but not really with isometic to well. This method is the least time consuming for good animations, but eats up the most amount of resources on the games side.

Game Assets Sale

These are working Iframes from the store page.

How to make a quick buck

10. Make a website.

With a website you have a place to hold ads, ads pay based off views, clicks, and some pay just to fill a space depending on the ad hosting service or if you did decide to just offer adspace by payment.

9. Make videos.

With videos you have yet another place to hold ads. You can post them on websites like youtube and you get paid for views, and clicks. You can also have them on other video upload sites and upload them to as many of them as possible when you are the video's copyright holder.

8. Make web browser video games.

With web browser video games you can put them on sites like newgrounds, gamejolt, and much more. With that content you can make money with ads.

7.Take pictures

Picking up photography as a hobit is a easy way to make money.  There are various websites like Picable, picearns, and much much more. You can make money from ad revenue, from royalities, and much much more.

6. Make online web comics
Online web comics like the rest of these you can make money through ad revenue.

5. Make music for web
Making music for the web, meaning anyone can listen to your music, you can make money by creating music for popular youtubers, from ads, and much more. One way of doing this is making music, and making a cover art album and posting a entire album on youtube, having your music play while showing the cover art. Many artists have been doing this for years and been relatively successful such as rukarukaali someone who makes pariodies of other artists songs. Existing artists such as They Might Be Giants.

4. Make Cellphone apps

Any kind of app, just make it stand out, and it can have microtransactions, ads, and "donate" options.

3. Write a online book

Many people can write books, about just about anything, a online book can contain ads, these ads can make money.

2. Make sellable digital content.

From artwork, to comic books, to video games, to making pretty much anything sellable that costs nothing to mass produce. All of the content above should and can be sellable if made is higher quality. The consumer has to want to purchase it, and you have to price it how much you think it would sell for.

1. Sell old stuff.
Old things can make money, if they are just sitting around doing nothing why not sell it on amazon and ebay.

0. Make pointless top 10 lists like this.

Guide to surviving a IPhone

You see if you are reading this you are either interested in or own a Apple IPhone, if you are a owner you are probably facing some very simplistic fustriaghtions over various reasons. Such as, why do I need to use my apple ID everytime I purchase something and remember a password, you see if your phone is stolen all it takes is someone to request that your password needs to be changed and oh look they just purchased things with their brand new phones. No it is ment to prevent children from buying litterally everything they can on mommy & daddies credit card that they stupidily saved to it.

Gaming:

You see IPhone is a device made to hinder you as a user, want to become a programmer, unless you can fork over developer fees up atleast $99.00 a month and some how still make that much on a dead market place a month good luck. You see IPhone users are only interested in facebook games, like candy crush and candy crush saga, and candy crush soda, and candy crush jelly, and temple run, and temple run 2, and cut the rope, you know all those free games that make money with "Power-ups". If you plan on gaming on Iphone, don't most developers got smart and said fuck that shit.

Apps:
Most apps you will use is facebook, instagram, and a few social media ones, a few non-social medias too like paypal and banking ones that are really just the same as loading it into a good web browser like google chrome which you will want to use over the built in crap.  Most apps will how ever be completely out of date compared to their android counterparts and some are easily abandoned and never updated to match it.

Phone functionality:
Yes you can see read times on other peoples messages sent to their iphones, and yes you can skypecall I mean facetime, but when it comes to the functionality of a phone it is far behind all others. No wificalling, only a few terrible cellphone providers service, crappy intena's worst on the market in fact.  You will spend more times under cellphone towers trying to get service than anything else.  You can send and recieve text messages but knowing when someone else read it is borderline stalking, hell you going to tell them my location too iphone, so they can stalk me around town? So yes it works but so does a old fashion flip-phone.

Bottom Line:
Buy a android phone, any, any is better than Iphone, hell so is a blackberry, firefox phone, windows phone, and ubuntu phone.  Buy anything but a apple phone and you will survive from apple phones.

Guide to Creating websites

There are many free services out there, to create your own website on, many webhosts out there that are also free, many domain name providers that do it all for free, but here is a guide to help you out thoughout all the confusion.

Webhosts/domain hosts

Many webhosts will offer a free service and a paid for service the free service will most often be limited to personal use, with no monitary gains, with no access to the webhost servers outside of a ftp server accessable either through web browsers or ftp server-client tools, many will put data access limits(look out for these), and all will limit your file space sizes per-webpage & overall, along with filetype limitations.

Most modernday webhosts will offer templates, most will try to force these templates on the end user, some will allow for modification, some will make you code it. It really depends on the webhost at the end of the day.

The reason why you have to look out for data access limits is because some webhosts terminate your free-account after so much data has been sent and recieved such as http://www.serversfree.com/ who will not even let your get your code back if your account is terminated. So no switching webhosts with this one they will completely screw you over if too many people access your website or you upload alot within a month which when you do a complete site re-design it can happen but they don't care, nevermind trying to upload your html5 games you worked months on to these webhosting sites they don't care.

Many free webhosting sites include ads, these ads tend to be added onto each webpage slapped on with improper taggings screwing up whole websites in nearly every web browser, these webhosts such as freewebs, & serversfree are unwilling to work with you period, they both claim the slapped on code is for security but when you look at the code it is tracking code, and adcode for popup ads.  These also cause failed w3c validation, which is a big minus in my book as a programmer. Follow syntax or gtfo, unless you are using a template then its fine because you didn't code it some other bad programmer did and you can point this out to them. Plus these ads often contain malicious software, and the webhosts don't care about client security.

Very few free website hosts even allow you to program your own website, many force templates. Which means it looks the same as everyone else who uses that website offering very little diveristy and just plain designs.(Look at blogger as a example of this). Some offer the option to edit the templates(blogger does), but that is very few. Most just have input textfield area's with a option to put in pictures or change pictures. Coding your own website or using a tool like dreamweaver, web expression, or the various free ones out there is ideal so long as you can modify or code it yourself. CSS, Javascript, & HTML is probably your best friends and html5 won't validate with w3c because it was released unfinished, don't fret if that is the case. XHTML is the best alternative plus you get the bonus of some XML functionality which can be useful.

If you are planning on having a forum it is probably better to go with a forum hosting site and load it in with a target. Some webhosts offer a basic forum but often it isn't as good, and offers complex systems of control, some don't even allow any customization what so ever with generic pre-made topics only.

Things like winx, blogger, and freewebs are fine they just look too much alike from site to site, and you really want your site to stand out and be unquie first impressions tell everything. If you have a website showing code, showing test area;s, showing errors, esc it doesn't look professional. It looks like you don't know what you are doing, and will lessin the flow of traffic even more than it would if you incoperated "SEO". SEO doesn't actually make a difference since everyone practices it, take a look at my previous article here covering that:  http://undeadbobop.blogspot.com/2016/02/how-to-expand-your-audience.html

Beware of where your webhosts location is, different countries have different laws about the internet even from state to state, where even some of the governments were so stupid they almost passed bills banning all of the internet. A small offense such as posting someone elses youtube videos can have you anexted to another country tried their for crimes that are rediculus and small so beware of the laws and legaleze to some extent.

How to expand your audience

From youtube to local businesses, to websites to newspapers it all boils down to who would want to see, read, and obtain your product and how it would benefit them. But the underlineing from how competitors do something like this can be very underhanded. From paying for honest adspace to bot spam views, to bot spam links, to bot likes, bot shares, to honest web sharing networks there is a array of both terrible ways of expanding your audience and honest ways.

Honest ways don't pay off,

Honest methods of expanding your audience brings in so few people multi-billion dollar corperations know this, that they really are the only ones who can mass-afford to do this and our culture accepts what ever they do. Paid for advertising is the only "Honest" method left, and often ads will be made through "reviews". Reviews are suppose to be informative comsumer-sided points of criticism, pointing out what is good, and why people would want it, they are not suppose to be paid for but often into days world everything from videogames to guns has "reviews" that are underhandedily paid for like a advertisement without any such label, even big scale youtubers, magazines like game informer, and various review sites & articles are paid for, and it is obvious as soon as a consumer picks up the product who listened to said "Review".

Web sharing networks , posting links to partner websites or backlinking, and advertising are just a few honest ways of expanding. Here is why they don't really work.

Web sharing networks would be a network of websites that work together to promote content, this would be like instead of having adspace used by a paid for advertiser they use it for promoting another website that return promotes your website, a similar concept in old youtube days of "SUB 4 SUB" but a lot more honest about it.

Partner websites would be like me hosting this website and promoting it to another popular website I either own or promoting things like this website to my facebook, and what not. There is a underlining to this too where people use bots to post links on a mass scale on various sites such as this one.(Yes it has happened where someone did it in the comments section on various posts I made, yes I delete them). Search engines use to take in the account of backlinking.

Advertising is paid for adspace.

Now that I have explained the terms here is how they don't work:

Web sharing networks depend on a popular website promoting your website, and you promoting their website. Popular websites will only promote more popular websites so it feeds off your audience. Unless paid for advertised.

Partner websites only work if the website and feed you are posting it too is more popular than the other but then you are feeding off that website/feeds audience which is limited. Same thing can happen with magazine companies with promoting subsidies.

Paid for advertising only works so long and how much money you have. Meaning you have to spend more money and you could very well gain nothing from it.  Paid for adertising also depends heavily on where your target market is and how to communicate to them, high risk possible of working but more than likely failure.

Underline, underhand methods work till discovered,

Bots are the number one methods for online content from for views, likes, shares, and even clicks.
SEO exploitation is often done this way, when people say SEO they think the description, the page tags, the title, backlinks, and honest ways of doing something but that isn't the truth of SEO often you will find dishonest botsites taking up domain names linking to other websites that mass link to the same site that contain adware, spyware, paid for ads, ransomware, and much much more. Bots are used to promote these websites, adrevenue generated from these views are used to promote these websites, and ransomware deals, and spyware deals are made for profit from these sites, which anti-virus software applications benefit from often them being behind viruses made to scare people into purchasing this software that all could have been avoided by Search engines avoiding exploits and removing links like these.

Underline methods are the darker side of the internet, from scandles to lies and deception to trick people out of their money I will be going over underhanded methods.

Scandles such as what gamergate was attempting to expose with Zoey Quinn having  slept with "Gaming Journalists" to promote her text based "adventure game", and the corruption with Antia paying gaming journalists for views in-order to promote herself, and using "femism" exploiting a movement & gaming to lie and deceive inorder to promote her youtube channel. This isn't the first or last. gaming news media outlets knew about Nintendo's price fixing back in the late 80's but didn't report it because it would not only hurt them financially but they were paid off to do so, and it didn't come up until early 90's where Nintendo lost the case, after several meetings with retail store board members meetings with Nintendo exposed price fixing such as Toys'r us and various other stores. These underline deals and scandles all worked until they were exposed.

Popular youtubers have been taken down left and right after being caught using bots to spam click ads falsely which is a form of fraud, various of them now are facing the consequences of that while others continue to use bots for subs, views, likes, and sharing inorder to obtain higher view counts and "internet popularity" because by using those bots, they get real views after use because of how SEO actually works. Bots are used for litterally everything to get popular now on the web.

Gray Area works and doesn't.

Paid for Ad removal
Ad removal is the process that websites offer a ad-free experience, this by itself isn't entirely dishonest, but often what happens with this is it is used as a rail-road system, instead of labeling everything that is ads as ads they will only remove certain ads, misleading those who paid for ads to be removed. It works by misleading, and that is how so many get away with it. You pay $19.99/m||/y to a certain website and it is "ad-freeish" if you pay $59.99/m||/y then the website it all a sudden becomes "Ad-less". Now this is underhanding the adspace purchasers, charging them for adspace, then profiting from the people who would other wise not see ads as well. This is commonly done on popular websites that can afford to do it, or on websites that make so little from the ad revenue it profits them more.

 Paid for subscriptions
On their own they are not bad, but often doing premium, premium+ esc.. making people pay for content is ok, but when done wrong such as making them pay for every update, every page, every image, esc... then it becomes a huge issue of underhandedness making people pay to view everything just encourages piracy, and not the paying customer pirates, the "Screw that" piratacy because it is not worth the cost.

Chrome PC advantages

Chrome Desktops are wonderful small computer boxes, they don't get viruses, they can be used exactly like chrome web browser, they have apps, games, and office like work friendly environments.

There is downfalls more so than a standard windows desktop but I'm not here to focus on what makes chrome computers bad or good just point out whom it would most benefit and how and why.

There may not be as many apps or games, but this could be a good thing, just think about it for a second. With fewer games there is less distractions for a child, with no major viruses there is no need to run anti-virus software, no need to have adware removal tools, no need to have malware removal software. So for people who commonly get viruses, malware, or adware it would do so as risk is so minimal. For children it is good so long was you add some website blocker to block out obvious porn, proxy, maybe games, maybe threat sites and by having chrome os there is no tor web browser so no going on the deep web for them.

There are various cloud-based office applications that make it ideal for work environments with basic documentation access, client-side DB access forms, and much more.

They are commonly affordable based off their manufacturers being the lead business computer manufacturers, who specialize in making econ computers for businesses, such as ACER, DELL, ASUS, LG, HP, Lenovo, & much much more.
