Nes Classic: Emio The Edge Gamepad Review

This controller is the unofficial nes classic 9 foot long cable, keep in mind all is not what it seems.
The code book has multiple languages, English and french, keep in mind it only has the nes classic games, and it has very few cheats, and more or less a descriptions of games. Many of the images look like fan-art images tooken from the internet.

As for the controller, the 2 nes red buttons feel nes-like, no problem with them but the turbo has a switch
Turbo B & A, so it is either on A or B, meaning you must switch back and forth for it, but there is also 2 addition buttons above the red buttons that is hard to see in any of the pictures. the turbo button which presses which ever button is selected in the turbo switch, and the B+A button that simulates both B & A being pressed at the sametime. Now I don't know any use for this but the turbo system on the controller is rather annoying during mid-gameplay. In other words I would just ignore the switch, and two additional buttons as they bring nothing to the table except in shoot'em ups.

As for the dpad, it is not a nes-like dpad but a single piece that is clicky unlike the red-buttons it does not feel like the nes controller, but rather a clone controller.

The select and start how ever do not feel exactly like nes controllers but close enough to say meh they are hardily used in most games so alwell it is better than most clone controllers.

I would how ever recomend this controller for its length of cable. It makes it fun to play your nes and classic games on your wii, wiiu, and nes classic console.

Interworks and Emio did a good job on this to make it look very close to the nes controller, and feel similar to it but it still could have a few improvements.

imuga.com: Look at Expired Site / Forgotten Domain

With AtGames devices they commonly mention if you go to imuga.com you can download more games for their SD card sites, but if you currently go to it the website just searches for ads. A few months back the domain expired and some other company did the hostile take over the expired domain.

So now you can't download the games any more, so now you must use the waybackmachine to even view the website.

The website dates back to 2013, which tells you to go to another website which now links to a trap site that trys to tell you have a virus and to call a number and give money to them to remove the non-existant virus adware spyware. What this trap site use to be is trailware site, you had to have a subscription membership to download more games.

The trail games were panic lift,  logic dial, flash memory, sparkling truffle, and  mirror mirror.

As far as I know these games are commonly included with units such as the  Sega Genesis Ultimate Portable Game Player and the retrogen handheld.

As for the rest of Imuga.com there really isn't much to talk about other than a dozen legal disclaimers, with atgames owning the oem rights to distrobute sega products not only from the genesis but all the way from the master system to the dreamcast aswell as non-platform products, in other words arcade games. But AtGames hasn't done that at all really, a portable saturn would be nice.

They also had a guestbook, which amounted to 10 comments to April 2016. Currently I have not found any where to download these .bin files.   Most of the games are really not worth a download.

Sega Genesis Ultimate Portable Game Player: Complete Compatibility list

The Sega Genesis Ultimate portable game player is a Megadrive genesis clone system that has 80 built in games, and a sd cardslot for more games. It uses "firecore" and weighs about a pound , It has 6 button controls.

It is suppose to play genesis games but has quite a lot of compatiblity issues, the first major one is it can not load some .md files which is megadrive.  Along with that it can not play 32x games segamaster system, game gear, or xdata hacks files.

It also can not load .zip files or atleast has issues with all the zip files I have tried using.

It how ever does support .bin, and some .md files(but not many), It is better to go download a full genesis collection rom pack and delete out all the ones you don't need(like the sports titles), the ones already on the device, and after that you should have 666 games to choose from.(Or atleast that is what I came up with), If you have more than a 512mb sd card laying around then go ahead and use it, I didn't have one that would work.

From that I selected what games I had, and deleted all the ones I didn't have, there is a limit of how many games you can load as well, it gives a operation overflow issue because the max amount in the array of games is less than 512, it could also be the page number limitations too.

That is how atleast I  will be testing the device out. Each game I am done testing I shall remove from the devices and SD cards so developers from 20-30 years ago please be kind and don't DMCA me.  The list I have is all .BIN files so if that is modified sorry D:

On the SD card you will need to create a folder named "Games" or "Game" on to the ~ or root directory, and place the games in there.

Here is the list I have selectively kept as many as possible of sports titles off this list to make it easier to make.
IE: Football, cricket, baseball, soccer, Olympic Games.... Most are a series of games, with minor tweaks and yearily roaster changes like tecmo bowl, Madden, esc.... There are a few titles that managed to sneak past me in the process of deleting out in which I tested anyways.

In terms of sound every games sound is distorted into a mono output sound, I wouldn't say this is one of the worst but it certainly isn't good in terms of sound quality for the device, video has distortion as well in numerous games, and pixels don't always perfectly match the genesis video output. There is no way to use any sort of game genie as the device doesn't have a built in hex editor and everything.

All Games Have now Been tested outside of several sports series games, and Homebrew.

Here are the games that do NOT  work ( as in black or white screen on starting rom) :
  1. ANY 32x games (doom 32x, esc...)(I tested them all yes)
  2. ANY Sega CD games(Can not load the format)
  3. ANY Sega master system D: (had a attachment works in plenty of emulators, but not this one)

Now what I would suggest for any developers out there trying to make a little money is to distribute their old titles rom files for a small fee, and possibly trying to contact Sega to distribute their games through these genesis clone manufacturers and make a small amount of money that way.

As for the unit it has a long compatiblity list thus far, many games are compatible yes, and do play but have color differences, sound differences, and are not fully tested in full play throughs, if you experience any game crashes with the unit report it here and what game, and how far in so I can modify the list and catorgize better.

As for the additional games the unit claims you can download imuga.com is a expired domain as of last month. Meaning all those additional games are lost to the net hopefully someone backed them up. If so please provide a link in the comments section to them so I can continue their life and test them and add them to the list aswell.  I have a post here talking more about this site: http://undeadbobop.blogspot.com/2016/12/imugacom-look-at-expired-site-forgotten.html

ChromeOS lacks various text format support for docs editor

Currently chrome OS lacks any txt, xml, js, css, sh, bs, vbs, html, xhtml, or rtf intergrated format support outside of viewing, editing in docs requires uploading it to your google drive then opening it from there in google docs but the files system application lacks this.

This requires installing a separate different text editor that gives support for this currently I am using Caret -t

The application is primarily for coding as it lacks any font style capabilities(font size and font type) but has color coordination for some languages including html, js, css, & xml.

So it is similar to notepad++ and here is the link:

Now atleast you can code html files for chrome.

Free Wordpress vs Blogger comparison

For this comparison I will be comparing free hosting word press to blogger this is straight from wordpress's hosting site and you can make a comparison to this site to it's sister wordpress site which I edited the best to my ablities in true wordpress fassion:

Please do not get upset this is just a observation comparison, meaning from the experience usage of both sites. Obviously there may be a biased for blogger as I have been using it much longer and know the in's and outs of it down to a science almost.

I'm a wordpress noob, in comparison, but I could have coded my own site and have several times in the past using flakey free webhosts, which all guaranteed quality hosting which have been taken down, bought out, or just other wise closed the doors, changed names, or remaketed themselves as something else. Since I was about 7.

Now if you find a problem with what I have to say about free word press please by all means address those issues.

Wordpress Positives:

- Professional looking pages
- Faster load times
- RSS Atom Feeds
- Professional widgets(when they are in the templates)
-Plenty of plugin options( But very little options in free )
- has desktop, tablet, and phone versions all match in templates
- Some customization

Wordpress Cons:

- Good things cost a arm & leg
- Not much for customizing in free version practically out side of backgrounds, headers, and oh adding pages, a few widgets, and "custom menus"
- Widgets are primarily in paid for Templates
- very limited storage space
- No customizing editing options for code in free hosting or just not able to find

Blogger Pros:

-Individual looking pages (More artsy unprofessional looking more personal)
- Gadgets by the dozens some professional most not but some are fun while others are just adware to your sites
- VERY VERY VERY customizable templates with customizable layouts and you can even make your own layouts from code and your own templates from code.
- has different templates for desktop and phones
- Promotes users to go to next or previous blogsites, promoting shared traffic.
- has feed options includes atom & RSS feed options and many methods for users to subscribe along with feedburner intergration tools
-Costs nothing
- Featured posts
- Adsense out the gekco.

Blogger Cons:
- Phone version does not exactly match
- updates are slow but do happen often with minor changes and mircrosized updates
- VERY BULTY, slow load times even with optimized idealisms because of builty modular code, (because too many options to customize the templates in too many ways which is both good and bad)
- Way too many broken gadgets and way too many gadgets that are misleading advertisements with almost zero functionality.

How to: Python ChromeOS

Chrome OS has several options to actually do python with several extentions but there is a lacking of pygames, and additional libraries.

There is Pyshell which has a IDE shell, and running application. Python Fiddle is a online IDE.
Currently  I have a application: http://pythonfiddle.com/lost-temple-text-adventure

Currently I can not get python fiddle to actually run the code but I am able to code in it and share the same code which you can do basically with any text editor so it isn't shocking.

There is also Python Editor 5.1.5 online here: http://python.codnex.net/index.php

Skulpt is another pyton IDE that can be easily worked with it is a working addon extention that isn't just another website.  You can get here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/skulpt-interpreter/bocjplmmdjglmffmpofmmndklbdpcmeb?hl=en

Currently I can not get my old code to run on any of the IDEs It could be because it was coded in Python 2.6 days.

I did however use pytoexe to make a buildable playable version how ever it does not work in.
If you want to play it you can download it here: http://gamejolt.com/games/lost-temple-textbase-adventure/40126

Gamestop midnight: Pokemon Sun & Moon Released

I usually don't like going to gamestop but how ever during the midnight release 2 of my other co-workers came to the same gamestop. Gamestop handled a event starting at 10:00pm across the board, they did trivial game at the gamestop I went to and did a raffle based on tickets earned during the games.

All night access to gamestop, and a few games to play.

They also gave away a few goodies a poster for sun & moon, landard, and wristband for pokemon Go.

They handed out pokemon cards, and riffled off pokemon sun, Moon, and plenty of pokemon cards. My wife won some, and so did one of my co-workers.

How ever they did not have any of the strategy guides which is kinda weird to not have one on launch night but understandable with it being launch but they should have one if they didn't receive a shipment. However that is very unlikely considering the work in experience I have with retail, more than likely corperate would not let them sell the strategy guides until the morning.

Miitomo - Nintendo Mii App Review

So have you ever wanted to take your mii on the go and message your friends with tamagotchi life style like text to speech without most of the weird antics? No well Nintendo decided to do it anyways.

You can customize your Mii with coins(in game currency) which you get by answering questions. Which I have to assume is some autofill survery form. But most of the questions are personal and a few odd ones here and there stalker like questions.

There is the same level of customization with face, hair, color, and positions as the WiiU counter part of the Mii's but there is also customization with clothes, something the WiiU does not offer nor does the 3ds.

Well you can customize the box room you are in with pictures of your mii and other miis but you can't do much on that front in comparison to tamagotchi life. Pretty much just edit your mii's, add clothes, answer questions, and that is all there is to this app so far. Supposevily there are game tickets in the game but I haven't found a use for them.

How to disable ads in Android games without rooting

First I must say there are various different methods to view this approach as many games handle ads differently, some are actually included in the game itself in methods that require a Internet connection while others are built into the apps.

Method 1: airplane mode

The key to this method is to turn on airplane mode before starting your game. most unity games use a common adsense like API which preloaded all the ads turning it back on how ever once the app is started will cause the app to reload the ad data allowing it to display ads. so for this method it will kill your service.

Method 2: Restrict data usage

Android 4.0+ added functionality to restrict data usage, this methodology disables data usage across the board how ever as disabling background data will not disable ads.

First you must bring up settings, then go to data usage, enable limit data usage and simply lower it to bellow the green barscreen. This will turn off all data usage across your phone how ever you can still receive texts and phone calls. or you can just turn off data usage by disabling it.

Conclusion : rooting is the way to go but can violate any and nearly all terms of services provided by carriers. it allows you to install firewall applications which can disable data usage on particular apps exactly. which disables ads.

Rock Paper Shotgun throws a fit over Bethesda's New Review Copy policy

Within the news of "Gaming Journalism" where unethical practices are the normality in which reviewers commonly black mail developers at the mercy of not only their audience but their input and expanding audience. Now before you gut me and hang me just hear me out, I have worked on various titles in the past and have seen this first hand...

The past:

You see much like a site like this can grow so can sites like Rock Paper Shotgun's but they are a "Real Gaming News Journalist" you say, but oh lets take a look at their track record, well it is not kotaku bad but it has been involved with many underhanded misleading reviews with EXPOSED back door processes such as the Zoey quin with nathan grayson case, he was also with kotaku And again Nathan Grayson soon after was exposed again, and again, and again for unethical practices, Including reviewing a game made by a former colleague without mentioning it ever once. Now this isn't as bad as the Zoey Quin case but I thought I would mention it along with the pro-Anita propaganda they were pushing out and trying to force feed all of us gamers trying to tell us we are sexist for enjoying games and manufacturing evidence to do so.

But that is not what I really wanted to talk about,

What I really want to talk about:

On a steam update post for fallout 4 & skyrim they posted about dishonored 2 in how they demanded a review copy right now,

They are mad over this new policy that enables them to force these developers to send them stuff for free, and they are upset because the new policy for review copies to be given out a day before release.

Their excuse on how this is anti-consumerism is because it is anti-them, they don't want to wait for the game to release before they start tearing it a new one so bethesda got tired of superiority complex and told them to wait to review it, forcing reviewers to actually wait on getting a review copy to make sure they really want to rather than shovel out the copy paste crap they have been pulling for the last decade or two.

When a reviewer, reviews a game it should be meaningful as this is someones very very very hard work, and shouldn't be taken so lightly . Their excuse for this move is "OH BAD GAMES DON'T BUY BECAUSE WE CAN'T GET MONEY OFF THE HYPE OF THE GAME AND MANUFACTURE HYPE FOR OUR SITES AND GAIN MORE MONEY THAT WAY.".

It is like if you were to demand a video out of them right now as soon as they get 3/4 the way through the process of making it, so you can judge that.

The Advertising Biased Practice:

Commonly you will notice that their ads much like gamestop, IGN, and kotaqu all are games they all push forward this money to be "advertised" and in doing so receive a "positive review", this is common practice amoungst the elites. Some as going far to say pay for advertising or we will review your game badily.

Rock Paper Shotgun pushes for advertising with them, keep in mind they also use google adsense advertising on top of this and want games advertised on their site, meaning they more than likely could review a game that goes through their advertising biasedily because they shelled out the money to push their products already.

The Blackmail:

Not saying Rock Paper Shotgun has done this but many have demanded goodies special editions over hundreds or thousands of dollars in money or gifts.  Now call me crazy for thinking this as of blackmail practice but with my android development experience I have seen this first hand, and with my experience with working with other studios for free keep in mind.

It works two ways, those whom auto-comply with this,  those whom benefit from this practice being the norm, and those whom get trashed through the mud.

Wealthy companies like Bethesda, EA, and Activision can afford to shell out ever last cent advertising their games and doing it on every major "Gaming news outlet" and still have money left over to buy out every small company all at the same time. So this practice benefits them as it disallows for smaller indie developers to pay for their titles to be pushed on platforms via advertising and their games commonly get dragged through the mud if they can not afford any at all.

Ethical issues with all this and conclusion:

Now what is ethically wrong with all this practice of demanding review copies and demanding goodies. Well it is very well a old practice at that, unpaid for service with extremely high standards even before the product is well close to being actually finished and judging it as if it were.

Meaning the more free stuff thrown at them the more they will likely review positively regardless of quality. Meaning even the fact they are given the game will cause them to biasedily favor it over a game they had to purchase. Meaning you are not getting a honest review out of them, if you had to pay for it and they didn't.

But the review sites such as Rock Paper Shotgun have been greedy over the years finding their involvement in nearly every damn scandle there is, so is black mail really out of the question of their involvement? They could be demanding they buy adspace, they could be demanding goodies, they could be demanding a paid for review without ever once saying it is to the base consumer as well.

But we are not here to burn them by the steak now, their demands for earily access review copies is just down right out of the question, reviewers should wait, it isn't the gamers waiting like they try to pass off, it is the reviewers who are attempting to be the first ones to get in on every cash cow by targeting what is popular and trying to be the first one to the case if they are late they commonly copy paste reword practice just to grab a few views. Hence why there is little to no difference from the first review that comes out and the last with certain sites, Rock Paper Shotgun included in all that.

This practice is "Anti-"Corruption in gaming news Journalism and don't let the fools at Rock Paper Shotgun tell you any differently, that is why they are pissed. Honestly if they had to buy every game their practices would be forced to change, and this unethical give them shit for good review would be dead in the water as it should be.

Lets Chromebook 3D Range Shooting - Review txt

Take a gander on over here and you will find yet another generic FPS on a shooting range built in Unity yet again.

Nothing wrong with unity game engine I have used it before to make games, but it has been used lately to shovel out projects like so quite often. The difference with this one, well it is on the chrome web store, and it is just a link to a website that hosts games.

This one isn't anything special like itch.io or gamejolt how ever, it is just a bunch of generic flash games intended to grab the audience of children and overly worked people from time to time which have no real point in other than shoveling them out and grabbing them views.... *Heavily ganders over my own existance questioning the existance of my website*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I don't quite frankly do it for that reason, I do it because I enjoy this old format of reviews, which only maybe 30 or so people will read at most really.

At any rate this game is hardily playable on the chromeos acer 11 I have that is only a year old. The problem of the problem lies with this major game is the fact it uses unity in such a way that isn't optimized, this isn't unity's fault as I have played other games using the engine on this laptop though that was before a major overhall with the unity engines webplayer.

At anyrate this game even without all those problems on a storefront intended for chrome os users is not just that but it is not very fun. You have 4 types of enemies a still frame bear, still frame wolf, and 2 different targets and 1 friendly target with no animation work on anything here. I have more animation work on my first 2d game than this and that was made back when I was 9 years old.

As for the envirorment it never changes there is only that the inside of a shooting range, I know that is the point and name of the game but couldn't it very from game type. I mean I could be shooting wolfs and bears out in a outdoors shooting range maybe and the generic targets inside.

Bleh, I digress, the most important problem with the game is the lack of reloading, more like you reload your gun when idk 8 shots maybe are shot off and then it is stuck for ever in limbo of never being allowed to shoot your gun again even though you have 92 bullets left according to the HUD.

I don't know how this game for a 4.1 stars on the site its on maybe developers rated it up so high maybe the site owner did, maybe that rating system on the site is FAKE.

Here are some of the pros since I kinda have been rambling on hte negatives.

The positives:

The game has gameplay that could be precised as fun and it does have some blood effects when you get attacked, but they look meh, as for the title nope it isn't lieing it is a 3d shooting range but that is all unity there.

It's kinda a hunting game, very few meh ones out there, this one is not quite meh material though but it is close with a bit more work it could be meh.

The game is a game at the very least and has some polish to it not much though.

The negatives definitely out weigh the positives on this one. Go play CSGO's training level and it is about the same, or TF2's.

Razor takes over ouya

So appon looking over my ouya developer account in recently just to take a look at it I recently found out Razer took it over entirely over the control of software and what is released, so now they own many of the microconsole cornerstone of the market. Owning most of the market and controlling it  ensuring to monopolize it to a small extent.

I was just curious to see if the system had some life in it, but you now have to have a razer account along with a ouya developer account. It links the two accounts together, but has seperate account info.

You can still use the Ouya ODK and still develop for the ouya but it heavily pushes to develop on razer's microconsole platforms as razer has taken over the Ouya's software. The cortex razer platform is the only live line of the Ouya console now.

In terms of extange in management there has been new developer licenses agreement.

This does not mean that your old ouya games are on anything else however. It does mean that they can easily be put on razers platform how ever. But the ouya is a dead fish in a ocean of microconsoles now.

Pre-made Game engines vs custom engines

In modern day game development, Engines are the easiest and more and more used.

Most people don't see what is in the games they buy, most obvious ones are unreal, ID tech, and unity.

ID tech the least used anymore.

ID tech back in the day was used for most games actually but in recent years, since bethesda bought out ID, ID tech 1-3 was the most popular, and even the revolutionary FPS used them such as Quake, Halflife, Call of Duty and much more.

Call of duty for a very long time just used the pain old Quake 3 team area version of id tech 2.5

But when ID tech 4 released it released with"Brink" a failure of a game with co-op online story with a good idea of gameplay, bad story, and bad implementation of said good idea with technical issues wide spread not to mention large game file size, very short game story.

6 months later "Rage" a complete failure of a game released, with even more technical problems spread all throughout and a over conflicted Very opposite problems. Long game over convoluted story, very incomplete with shattered dreams of over done story telling with a game engine that focused on nothing but graphics with very little compression. One of the first 20gb games.

As for unreal every thing from bioshock to  rune, to duke nukem forever, to even harry potter games.

As for unity, unity is rather newer 2005 was its initial release which is a very different beast than it is today, it was hardily used till around 2010 and had several major overhalls.

Unity uses monodevelopment as its major IDE and uses opengl and direct3d for its API which means you can use C#, javascript, and boo script.

But monodevelopment has split in efforts in which allows other alternative than just unity such as monogames. The advantage of monogames and monodevelopment is you can write a game for windows, mac, linux, and much more by simply writing once.

Unity is being more and more use and getting more and more overhalls.

As for writting a custom engine it takes more time, it allows more control, but often can only have a single usage. A custom engine unless designed from the start for multiple projects often has code for single use.

A custom engine can take months to years to make but a API is the main tool for a Engine and accessing libraries that offer support for those API's is the easiest way to do it. Writing your own API can be very very difficult so even custom engines use code that use code that uses hardware. These libraries such as SDL, Opengl, XNA, Monogames, Directx, and plenty of more.

These pre-made game engines were once custom just written in such ways to be re-used over and over and made simplier to modify with their own custom IDEs.

If you want something you can say you accomplished, something you want full control of, with little to no limits a custom engine is for you. But if time is a pressing matter, if you want something simpler, easier, and necessarily don't need any programming experience game engines maybe your thing.

Javascript Enlightenment - Book Review

Javascript Enlightenment written by Cody Lindley and published by O'reilly is the subject matter for today:

Now first of off before I dwelve into this review I will cover things about the author, Yes I know he isn't a english major, neither am I. I know he isn't a typical author whom in which writes books on a regular bases pumping them out like a machine. Who is quite frankly?

But there are some major problems with this book. Keep in mind I am reading it from the digital googleplay version of the book which just happen to be onsale.

He offers in the first few pages for a upgraded version that is DRM free and only version to be life time with free updates for only $4.99, but I am not going over that version, I do not own it, nor will I. Not saying the book is awful or bad but quite frankly $4.99 is too much to be asking from me at this point in my life for the offer of "updates". Not to belittle the author but I am at a moment in my life were I genuinly am poor all the time.

Now lets get on with the review:

The first thing I noticed in the book besides the notes about the author, more than likely from the publisher information is that it lacks a table of context, which would provide a base summury in what exactly you will learn from the book. Lacking something so key and important as this is rather disappointing. It means to look for cherry picking topics in which to refresh from it becomes more difficult meaning you will need to use the index. Which this book contains.

The book is 166 pages long, which is very very light for any programming book. The author did recieve backlash for lacking contents and covering things such as date(); error(); and regex(); which he did make a disclaimer stating that they are not important to know, when they can be depending on what you are doing....
Example would be if you wanted something to work based off holidays, birthdays, and special events date matters quiet a bit. Or if you just want to display time and date or timestamp events.

But lets move on from the author thinking date isn't important.

The first 18 pages are prefaces, this means the authors notes, and the last 14 pages are appendixes and the index.
The appendix is a review of the entire book followed by a conclusion.

This means that there is only 134 pages of actual meaningful content.
Code is within these pages and yes it is spaced, commented, and color coded, so yes beginiers can pickup on it, and it is easily readable for those whom are learning.

Quite honestly I know javascript before picking up this book so it really isn't for me other than a refresher which I heavily needed.

When working on my construct 2 plugin I had realized how much of the language I had forgotten over the years of just using  Java, C#, & C++. Which even know is a rare occasion due to my job D:

As for what the book did cover what it did cover it did rushed. Not well but good enough. It is good for a bases idea of where to start from but it starts straight out with concepts(Object orientated programming) most people will not get without even a basic hello world example you see plagueing every other book on every programming language book.

Now as for what it doesn't cover, there is quite a lot seeing how it is as few pages as 134 in all actuality. Code occupying most of the space with links to "Live code".

This live code links you to jsfiddle a website that allows you to edit and test code written by the author, which you can change for yourself.

Now this is incredibly useful to incorperate this into a digital book and one of the few advantages from a physical book.

But like I said the author uses this code to consume as much space as possible and has little words to provide a explanation for what the code does as possible. Which is a good thing, but misses going over concepts and basics.

Now since then the author has put the book up for free on his website at : http://www.javascriptenlightenment.com/JavaScript_Enlightenment.pdf

If it's free it's for me could very well apply but the googleplay version is also nice.

Which is the first edition with updates apparently. It has 1 more page of content apparently, has a table of context. I didn't know about it till after writing this review. This version is different from the o'reilly version by minor differences.

New Update to website app, and published to Google & Amazon

If you want to stay in tune on your mobile devices for this site now you can with the official android app called "Bobop Blog" on both Google play and Amazon.

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Daniel-Musial-Bobop-Blog/dp/B01MG2FBWZ/ref=sr_1_1?s=mobile-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1477320617&sr=1-1&keywords=bobop+blog

Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appspotr.id_736668192662882062

Now for the update

The next version of the app will include more pages from various sites other than my own which will include content such as maps, games, and much more.

Android app In development for website/ AppSpot Review

The app will include feed from this blog,
As of right now I am using appspotr, and have a APK version that is to get on googleplay and possibly amazon's app store.

IF this comes to true you will be seeing a app for this site up soon, as it is during the review process for both versions.

The only other platforms I would like to publish a app for this site on is a windows phone but that matters very little as windows phone platform is not only not that difficult to do so with but it has very little impact.

I will how ever continue to try to create more apps using the appspotr platform but I will go over more in the review....

Now for the review of appspotr:
Appspotr is a web application design to make web apps into phone apps by linking to other sites and publishing them on googleplay AND iOS app store only if you have developer accounts with both.

Right now I am just starting its development, so I decided I would go outside my construct 2 bubble and try something new. This new item hit me up with a ad on facebook to try to get me to use it. So I tried it being warry of it. Once you start using it you will notice that there is a lot of paid for page types. ALOT...

Pretty much the only thing it can do for free is look at RSS Feeds, websites, and content pages.

That being said you can actually do quite a lot, for instance increasing the web traffic to a website is one major benefit but you can also promote your online games, making your online games right will allow you to promote your game to various platforms.

I can how ever make as many changes to the app as I want to improve it, how ever it is rather limited due to the cost factor, Currently the app is under review but I will include a download APK link here,

Download apk here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/obsn8uzekk4cr9d/bobopblog.apk?dl=0

In terms of a service of creating a websites app this tool is very simple, very easy to use. But the only downside is you can't really do all too much and it takes a bit longer waiting for approval for no matter what version you use or export to due to a approval process, which ensures the app is atleast functional which is good to some extent.

Now with googleplay you can release apps now on google TV devices, android tv, along with google wear and android wear.

After thoughts:

For instance very few people knew this but for a while there were flash games marketed for Wii's opera web browser, meaning people could play online web browser based games, some of them offered multiplayer support well before the Wii had a single online game. This was a feable attempt to promote unlicenced, unhacked homebrew games for the Wii. Some even offered ghetto wii motion support by picking up the X & Y of the mouse cursor. Primarly these were games that could be played with a mouse.

The reason I bring all this up is appspotr could potientally be used to bring web games to smart phones by coding in input even for accelleromitors in the phone devices, this how ever is a tricky task but we are seeing this with VR videos, and images.

Potentially you can use web platforms to code VR games over this using something like gamemaker. Unforchently you will need to make sure this platform can support webgl before even attempting it something I have yet to try.

Nintendo Switch

Well Nintendo finally decided to announce and show their code name Nintendo NX today as the Nintendo switch. As predicted by the various sources of leaked information that it will be a portable gaming console that is exactly what it is. New predictions are that it is using Nvidia tegra hardware meaning it is most comparable to the Nvidia shield. Price point should be between $200-$300.

If said rummors are true this would be the first Nvidia/Nintendo product ever.

Currently I am still working on projects hopefully I will be looking at getting the best one out on either platform.

I would like to get games out on both but how ever if it comes down to one or the other than it will be the switch.

They have not how ever announced anything about details of the system.

But how ever what they did show was actually interesting as the system is a tablet that connects to a dock. This dock is a HDMI/ charging station.

My current project is built off of my Dreamout template using construct 2 gaming engine, and alpha footage will be shown soon. Also I plan on making holiday based events for the games using my dbop time & date plugin, which you can get on this site.

The dreamout template includes several mini-games, most I will either be building up or replacing.

Using Mail Chimp

So far I have setup Mail Chimp just to test run it, I have a email subscription source in the bottom, It looks far more professional for quick short messaging and advertising, possible form of having a nice looking mass email service, but its target demographic to replacing RSS to mail so far isn't standing up.

It could work if used right but the problem is everytime you want to update people about a post it would take 5x more effort and work just to "create a campaign." I am thinking about only using it as possibly a monthly or 4x a year thing to do multiple updates at once. But that is the farest extent of use. RSS feed and subscribe by email is still the best option.

Maybe I am doing it wrong, but it really shouldn't take this much effort in grabbing a RSS feed to a email list, but with Mail Chimp it isn't even doing that, it is litterally just a mass email subscription news letter service which is still good to have but it lacks the purpose in which I was orignally intending to use it as.

How you get Mail Chimp to even work with blogger is very annoying as you have to use a entirely different domain address and this domain provider also has to provide a email service, good luck with that. You may just have to go with a website host, that provides a email service that is more common for some odd reason(what I ended up doing after several hours of attempting). Plenty of these website hosts will offer a redirect domain, if not well you can simply create a redirect index.htm to your site just to verify it.

This method could easily be used to get around though and create spam issues like Mail Chimps over complicated verify domain process is trying to avoid, but to each their own.

Once you finally verify your domain you still have more hoops to jump through but that is the biggest one.
Designing your email can take time, if you use a template they have placement text in almost every block, and there is a top block that looks like it is part of the editor, it is not. It is in every template to preview it.
Remove that before continuing.

You can how ever integrate mail chimp with e-commerce, which mail chimp does very well apparently, you can setup automatic emails that are more personalized from the users standpoint and acknowledge for non-profit, and educate a group of students for teachers.

These things mail chimp does well, RSS feeding Nope, not designed for that as far as I can see, but yet I see people claiming it is the feedburner killer, which I am still using even though it lacks quite a bit...

Feeds added, Ethical questioning of feeds and advertising

I've added this blog to various feeds today, including feedcat, there are some issues with feedcats buttons not working at the moment so I will try to look into that, but there are a few others I am just testing out on top of using feedburner. Which is very very old, but realiable with very little to actually offer any more. Not getting enough views from it to justify working on it much further, you can still get my content through standard RSS Feed readers and email applications like thunderbird with its RSS reader, but you can also subscribe by email view the content.

But getting into that is just little to offer for content creators.
Most content creators use platforms like blogger, and word press don't know anything about RSS or atom feeds, it is really just for a nitch of nitch "nerds", such as myself to gather news faster even though it is so easy to filter out crap content with it from sites. So thank you 12 "nerds" who are subscribed right now, I am thankful for your subscription.

Honestly I don't blame people for not using RSS feed reader applications that much and depending on sites to do it for them because it is easy for the common person to get confused by how to put their RSS field information in.... But feedburner doesn't really offer much for the users or the content creators as it. In fact many feed sites promote that they are Superior to feedburner in almost every way including features for users and content creators, the only issue is they are not free and many are trail bases now that they have built up their user base.

Which just brings into question of ethics, you see a site offering a service for free that is massively popular being out done by a semi-popular feed supplier could easily unethically establish viewership. Meaning the effort through bots in which at that point you are not only paying them to promote your website(advertise it), but to gain viewership over your content, which these paid for services tend to offer multiple services to increase your views, which begs the question who is actually viewing it if you are not only paying them to advertise it, but to establish viewership, many shifty services out there offer bot use services for advertising because they know the more views you get from their service the more you are willing to pay, this is a cheap affordable way of claiming they are advertising it across multiple platforms but actually short changing you and making revenue from the actual lack of advertising.

Not to say all services are like this but I have seen this from meh popular "advertisers" before. Why I put "advertisers" in quotes is because they were promoting games, by reviewing them, meaning you paid for them to review your game and if you didn't they would release a "Bad review", this is a common practice in the Gaming Industry popularized by the "Youtube Gaming Journalism" market.

In other words I have received emails from "advertisers" demanding I pay them or else they will give my android games a bad review, claiming how ever if you do buy into it the video they make and post will get many many views for showing 10 seconds of use of your app, in which the videos contain generic music followed by a phone camera, pointed at a phone screen and recording it.....

But they promise to make a youtube advertising it and when you look at their videos day 1 they have all the views  they will ever receive within seconds of releasing the videos. Meaning a bot program.

Any way I am glad for services so long as they offer a equal playing field, and cost me nothing.

Thank you for subscribing to my feed as well on the various forms I have it out there, and if your not well there is the option to do so in various forms now, hopefully I can find a good RSS feed  source tool to use that allows more user control. There is also the subscribe by email form too if you don't want to deal with RSS feeds, also there is a ATOM feed on this site too.

RSS:  www.undeadbobop.blogspot.com/feed=rss
ATOM: www.undeadbobop.blogspot.com/atom

They all link you to feedburner, but you can use the URL's with thunderbird, and other applications to grab the purefeed.(What I use for feeds)

Chromecast android setup and screensharing

This method works with the newest chromecast device and the oldest, first thing you need to do is download the chromecast app on your android device through the google play store.

Once you launch it make sure your chromecast is pluged into your HDMI display and plugged into a USB slot for power for your chromecaster device. Make sure the display is also on and input is selected to your chromecast.

Then launch the app, tap setup,

you should see a code on the TV,  enter that code into your phone.

Then setup a name,

The next set is to setup a network options, now you need to connect it to a wireless network, there is no wired connection options, to create a wireless network you need a wireless router N/G or higher.

Once connected to your wireless network you can use it on anything with the chromecast logo, installing the chromecast plugin in chrome webbrowser or OS will allow you to use it on nearly any device.

But here is how you screen share with your android.

Once you have the chromecast app launch it

Then click on the tripple line options icon in the top left corner,

then click "Cast Screen/audio" and select your device.

To disconnect simply click disconnect in the app or in your notifications.

You can play any of your smartphone games now on your TV, hook up a 360 controller with a usb to microusb, grab a drink and have a good old time playing games. Or use a wireless bluetooth controller.

Pokken Tournament Controller Pikkachu Edition Review:

Now this controller is a limited edition of a limited edition controller if that makes any sense. The main key difference between this and the regular pokken controller is it is that it is yellow, with a pikachu on it.

Now the key main thing about the Pokken controller is that as of right now it only works with the Pokken game, but some developers(such as myself), are trying to make it work with PC games, and WiiU a like.

What you have here is a tournament style snes like controller with 2 after thought rz & lz buttons thrown in the middle.

What this controller is good for:

EMULATORS(not virtual console), Pokken, PC 2d fighter games(muggen), PC side scrolling games, and PC classic RPG(FF) games. Also works with android lol....

Really developing a button mapping application isn't that difficult to do, primarily that is what I have been working on with various teams & on my own multiple times(along with multiplatform releases, menusystems, and level design).

Standing away from that taggent now I really wish Nintendo would expand on their usages of controllers to the games on the system such as for virtual console, essentially it is running games through a basic emulator core in which remaps the standard controllers inputs into the original systems inputs through button mapping, which is just a 2d array basically that saves.

The pokken controller has potential to be a good controller outside of pokken but it really isn't as of right now out side of a PC controller.

I got mine for the simple fact that I am a developer and I want to support as many input devices as I can on every platform I can. If this means expanding a library or two than so be it. I'm the type of developer that would support atari controllers for pc games if I could figure it out.(just a example).

Also just to let anybody know the red transparent hand grip does not lite up if you were wondering it is just a cosmetic which can be very very misleading which it was for me.

Jaden Smith suicide hoax phishing virus

Multiple news outlets from what it appears to be reporting and paying for facebook ads to generate their own adrevune continue to keep posting the same story the same headlines about Will Smith's son Jaden smith committing suicide "after" you click on the link and a fake Facebook site comes up asking for permission for you to click on it, you back out and it tries to install a virus.

This social engineering phishing scam is trying to access your Facebook account to not only hijack it but to keep spreading this story to collect user data as well as passwords. Do not click them do not fall for the click bait. Jaden Smith is very much alive according to his bio on Wikipedia and various other sources throwing down these hoaxes without pointing out the phishing virus, and attempts to grab up facebook accounts to repost and basically hijack accounts.

Thank you network security cources.

DBOP construct 2 plugin: Date & Time

Suggestion on holiday based events:
Make the condition last for a whole month using just the month condition. This would allow you to do holiday events without ever updating your game again, and hide behind a calendar wall which the users who are smart can get around by modifying their own calendar which promotes the users to look for more eggs in your games.

Update 1.4 Release notes
-Changed icon to have time clock hands in it
        - Made time & date & holiday conditions return the value checked in them. So if you set a holiday based event in December it displays 12 for month.

Update 1.3 Release notes
        - Fixed some acetable issue

Update changes 1/8/2017
-Fixed acetable not calling done issue.

Due to the previous version being broken I removed the link please download the one above.
Update changes to 1.3 11/20/2016
- fixed "dale" problem

Update changes to 1.1 9/13/2016:

-Added various holiday dates and condition some multi-country ones
- Add combobox breakdowns of dates for holiday condition
- added birthdays month & day to plugin
- added anniversary multi-use multi-purpose as a holiday
- Added set actions for expressions for birthday & anniversary
- Added a release notes section in comments
- This note gives all users rights to modify this plugin

Release Update 1.0

Currently I just finished the basic date functionality I wanted out of this plugin so you can code Holiday, birthdays, and any date based event into your game along with events happening on the hour and minute.

As of right now this plugin is only conditional & value base:

What that means,

You can test dates, and time to effect your objects accordingly.
You can grab and display users time and date according to their own machines time and date(which allows them to change time to go to holiday based events)

Hope you enjoy this small ~6kb plugin and hope it helps someone else other than myself:
Download here https://www.dropbox.com/s/dnp1q7zzfsfpgqi/dbop_datetime.c2addon?dl=0

If you want to give credit you can but you don't have to it only took me 2 days to code it all(because it is my first c2 plugin and it took that time to make it all work(most of that time) and package into a c2addon file.

Currently under development but this construct 2 plugin will bring any small javascript functionality such as simple things like time and date into construct 2 because it is lacking a native plugin to do so. Will add more to it later but in the meantime this is the help page for the plugin while it is under development and while it is in use. This page may alter based on the status of the plugin.

If you need any help in how to use the plugin, install, or misc, please post in the comments section bellow.

Drawing a head concept art

Was just bored so I drew this head, for concept art for characters.
The eyes were not done, and neither was the mouth and the shading on the nose was just started.
I'd just thought about posting things like this during development, this would have been a character profile image for text boxes, but I realized that a profile image would just be blan.

The fall of 1 2 3 submit pro(its down)

1 2 3 submit Pro also known as websitesubmit hypermart was a website used for SEO it would allow you to submit your website to various search engines, I had used if for the longest time on this site but unforchently not only did they require you to implement a ad or else you are violating their terms and agreement but their site has been down for quiet sometime.

They began offering other SEO services and buried their web sublimation tools further and pushed their paid for SEO service tools.

The other services promissed to boost your website in search engines, and gain you more views. I was appart of their associates program where I got those services for free so long as I continued to display ads for signing up for the same services and was even offered commission on if a sale was made through it, not one sale came from this ad, more sales came from my personal ads for my products.

The associates program ment I had to sell to get the same service, which it never sold, since the link has been broken I have actually increased in views which is odd.  I have not removed the links yet because of that and because I am simply waiting for the service to come back on but it seems like it being down for several days( almost a week), is a bit un-insuring that it will come back.

I have not heard any information on why it is down, just 404 & 403 errors everywhere. The parent site hypermart.net is still up and offering similar services but only for websites created with their tools and using their hosting service. So it is unknown to the cause of why it is down, but it is. If it remains down for another few days those empty ad boxes maybe gone and up for grabs, as the service maybe out pertinently with those 403 errors.

Hyperkin Smartboy Pre-oder

The Smartboy Development Kit just went up for pre-order on hyperkins website, and it means just a few things a far from the final product. This product is allows you to play gameboy games, the physical games with a gameboy-like controller that attaches itself to your phones, it uses opensource-ish emulation software similar to the Hyperkin retron5, probably will have outlash by retroarch again with hypocritical outlash.

The smartboy development kit forces the games into a 3:4 ratio with it's case, and the emulation software itself.

It loads the roms onto the device for temp use then uses the temp stored roms to play the games, much like the retron5, this prevents piracy.

The device starts out at $59.99 but shipping and handling will add more to the cost. To be honest I can see myself getting this once a serious price drop happens, and it will probably get much unneeded outlash from the folks at retroarch again, on legalize that they don't understand and quickly censor out people who do, and point out violations on retroarches part super emposing and modifying licences agreemments like gplv3 which is disallowed.

Preorder it here: http://hyperkinlab.com/smartboy-development-kit/

Megaman legacy collections 3ds Gamestop clearance

Recently I went into a gamestop in lycoming mall Pennsylvania, I went there while visting some of my wife's aunts, uncles, and cousins. When I was there I was surprised to see that in the gamestop they had a number of "New" items being "clearance" out, including megaman legacy, legend of zelda four swords, and a bunch of wii games as if they never sold. So I picked up Megaman legacy collection for $21.95. It has the first 6 megaman games, 2 3ds themes, and a sound track code inside, along with 3 stickers.

The menu system inside the emulator is in 3d, and it is rather limited. you can play both the American and Japanese releases of all 6 nes megaman classics.  The emulator has control options, boarders forcing 3:4 screen ratio, and a save state system. There are some issues with the emulator such as color is slightly off in each game and there is graphical artifacts in the most right collumn like in most emulators and console clones. It is in the orignal games but not as bad.

The game also includes additional content: a challenge mode(similar to nes remix), measuem(contains art work and old mannuals), and a "Data base"(has information in every character).

There is a music player which has every games sound track, and a amibo scanning option, which is for the megaman amibo(I do not own).

The game is well worth it seeing how each game on the eshop is $5+ and there is no challenge mode, and you can't play both USA & japanese releases.
