Woodle Tree adventure Review

This game is super cheap on steam, it is a unity game so fair enough. I picked it up for less than a dollar. Its a 3d platform adventure game where you play as a tree stump with legs. This game is so simple, it would be so easy to actually make with unity, but with its simplisty it is actually enjoyable to a small degree. The only issue is it is lacking in its simplisty as it could have been better with its combat system. Certain enemies come charging at you and when you attack it doesn't always register, the scope of the hit is the actual size of your leafy weapon when it should be slightly bigger to make up for the attack speed. If you get hit once it is all the way to the begining of the level, which can happen repeatively because you have to wait for the attack animation to complete to till you can attack again.

This adventure game doesn't nessarly feel like so much of a adventure with its micro level select world of just a seed house with orbs in it.

The gameplay though is simple enough its just a 3d platformer with responsive controls outside of the attack.

It is fun at times and has a bit of humor here and there like a few NPC's ask why you are hitting them and don't kill you when so many NPC's do kill you so your natural response is "DIE DIE DIE DIE".

The camera does have a few issues a few bugs it switches angles weirdly depending on where you die it could be at a completely different angle for certain parts for what ever reason. Others it has to go through walls and such which is bleh. It is something I would have fixed some other way. But other than that the gameplay is pretty solid, everytime I died in the platforming sections I felt like it was my fault and not the game cheating me.

As for the graphics it is a simplistic child like art style which is good for its gameplay, it is like windwaker kinda, and the opening reminds me of the great deku tree from zelda. I could see this game on a Nintendo console if there was a bit more of polish with the models though, they need more variorites on repeated used models. and 3d skyboxes showing waters around their floating islands or something.

The game is well worth its low low price.

Dreamout daily progress: Pool arcade mini game pool cues.

What I have managed to do today is make a working pool cue, it rotates around the ball, based off its position it strikes the ball with the red/green bars force. I added a basic hud, and the red ball with 1 is the player turn ball, it has a different color for each player.

Construct 2 internet/Lan Preview Tutorial

This tutorial will be going through the process of setting up a local construct 2 preview server. This means you will be able to test your construct 2 application/game on any device with a web browser on your local network, but you can also setup a preview server as well if you so choose to use your outer IP address in the local address option panel.

Step 1: Locating prefferences

This is one of the most basic and simplest steps, you will need to go into your construct 2 preferences located in the File drop down menu.

Step 2: Locating Preview options

In this step once you have your preferences open you need to click on the "Preview" tab, and click on the "Preview on LAN Address" more option, it is the "..." at the end of the line.

Step 3: Choose your host address

In this step all you need to do is select your computers network address or your outer ip address depending on how you want it to be.
PS: I whited out my outer IP address so there will be 3 options there.

Step 4: restarting your construct 2

In order to keep these configuration you will need to restart your construct 2 by closing out of it and running it as administrator, and possibly editing your firewall settings.
This is purely for security reasons on the windows os side of things.

Step 5: Testing

Now you should be all set, just click "Run Layout" and you should be all good to go. It will bring the game/application up in a web browser on your end, don't close out of it.

Step 6: Enjoying it over the network

Now you will need to go to another computer or device on your network, open the web browser, and type your network lan IP address with port 50000 into the URL bar, Example: ""

IF everything worked out fine it should start loading the game over the network to that device, such as it is in the picture loading on a chromebook.

Now it will take longer to load than on a local machine because it is downloading over the network, so be patient.

Greyfox RPG advernture game

Well gray fox is a standard RPG, with standard generic adventure non-combat story driven RPG with standard dialog boxes of readingness, a very short story. If not for the achievements it is easy to beat this game in 1 - 2 sittings.

You start off as a 34 year old women leaving her old job to go to a retirement home for the last time. You run around talking with a bunch of people and well, you quickly find out the towns people are mean, the care givers don't really do their jobs, and locked doors are everywhere. This retirement home called greyfox looks  like a prison. The IN is full till you write a nasty comment in the guestbook, and there is a mysterious lady in the pub. She disappears after talking with her after talking with the in-keeper.

The mysterious women tells you are old in a dream, and you have to look in this mirror and come to terms that you are infact old and go through the towns people's many different ways of coping with them being old. One is a greedy, another murders(most interesting one), another is just a crazy cat lady(buggy and can break your game if done wrong), and another is taking care of the old and is afraid of becoming old, only to die of being old.

You have to play through them all to get to the end, which quite frankly isn't surprising, it has multiple endings based on weather or not you decide to kill each character off or not. This is to try to make you play the game over and over again. The achievements are really the only thing to strife for in this game really.

I wouldn't recommend this game for children on the account that there are curse words, and a naked man running around all over the place.

I've played better RPG's on the web but its very well priced on steam.
Its ok if you want to kill some time with a short story game.

Peerblock put your network in its place

For many security is one of the biggest worries about your computer and your personal information. Well a firewall can help, a firewall for your own network can help, and a application based fire wall to block out peer to peer connections, websites, and even Microsoft themselves. Peerblock is one of the best applications I have used to prevent others from spying on my activities, disabling them from actually interrupting, locating, and much much more.

Most of the IP's are on the network I am on(noisy fellow tenet is pissed, he tried to break into my computer several times on his windows 10 os with weak kiddy scripts as his computer kept blue screening because they are not compatible with windows 10 and windows 10 still has a massive hanging memory issue within the OS), microsoft IP's, and certain countries that I don't want any connection to.

All of those packets not getting through because of a single application. Tell them to Piss right the hell off.

Backlinks are not as helpful as you think

For many years now I been hearing how backlinks are helpful and bring more SEO to a website, I have yet to actually see that. Sure it could possibly improve your page rank, but really page rank is determined on web traffic. If you have content that isn't very interesting but to a few people, well then it won't matter.

I have had countless "Professional web designers" tell me about their favorite backlink services, while ignoring all other SEO tips and claiming it improved their web traffic massively.

Here is the problem with that, those services create  page links no one sees. So empty links that DO expire that have no web traffic going through them. Some even claim they will provide links but fail to do so.

Google, and various other search engines are always changing their SEO terms, in what goes up in the ranks, they are based off algorithms which is basically setup based off  their priorities, not how many links you have to your site.

Keywords, descriptions, & Titles are the most important to gaining web traffic which heavily effects SEO. For those who don't have their websites on any search engines it can be a hassle but you need to register your website with the web master management tools for each search engine, and it might be better you go to a site that auto submits it to various search engines.

Those sites will actually benefit you as it is adding your website links to a dictionary that people actually use to browse and click on links rather than countless back link services that just create back link pages which provide no traffic for the most part.

Unity no longer supporting chrome DDDDDEEEEEERRRRRRRPPPPPPP

Well it looks like the unity team has decided to stop supporting chrome for what ever reason, disabled its plugin from working with it, and their "work around" doesn't really work. Its web player already doesn't work in linux, on phones, on tablets, on consoles, and various other platforms. Its native builds seem to be the only one working but for websites like gamejolt, and newgrounds this means a huge profit drop as people tend to only run with chrome, firefox, or internet derploder, for the most part from the PC audience that these sites target.

All I have to say is Unity team you messed up again.

200 posts, 200 sounds

The last few weeks I have been working on game sound effects, I managed to come up with 200 game sound effects, and I have decided to sell these game sound assets, they are simple sounds that can drastically improve any game really.

There is sounds for platformers, space shooters, shooters, rpgs, menus, retro games, and so much more. Most sound packs for construct2, unity and things like that only come with ~30-70 sounds for the same price.

Buy it on scirra store now.
Buy it on Itch.io now.

This is my 200th post so enjoy my new sound pack too.

Bing the worst search engine

Bing is microsofts search engine, you can search thing on the web on it, but for the most part its results are by far less relevent, and less helpful than even obscure search engines like goduckgo which just pulls results from other search engines.

Bing does the same exact thing, for the most part, you can register your website to go on bing too but it can take months to come up even just by searching the name of the website. Nevermind tags, descriptions, keywords, or website content, which on popular sites it just takes straight from, not actually linking to the page but taking the videos, and images, and only loading them.

Meaning websites that make money off that content being viewed no longer are due to ad avoidance. Not to mention missing content such as descriptions, and other webpage content.

They show boat how they don't advertise but the top search results are paid for results usually, and they do advertise by doing contests, and with their bing rewards program, which insites others to use it inorder to gain more profits in views based off advertising in search result listings.

The information is usually illrelevent when ever I fire up bing and search for something simple and small.
Oh whats this a news area, gee I wonder if there is ads in there, oh there is, golly gee ad free nope.

The funny thing is when google released the chromebook Microsoft was in a uproar and their marketing department made various ads trying to slander google trying to say it doesn't have word. But oh whats this:

Oh its just microsoft word running on a chrome book, because they offer a online version of their office applications for onedrive use which is easily usable on all chromebooks.

Their whole campaign of "Don't get scroogled" was just dumb, very very dumb for real. Their google look alike search engine is always going to be behind google, and the only functional use out of it is 36 bing credits a day to collect to 525 bing credits to collect $5 giftcards for amazon, gamestop, apple bee's, or microsoft stuff, if they took that away no one would ever use it.

new 3ds xl is amazing

So far yet up to this point I was holding off on getting a 3ds, for 2 reasons, 1. I have ginormous hands so yeah even the xl & 2ds is small for my hands. and 2. I knew there was going to be several model upgrades from the orignal 3ds and the 3d on it really was one of the things I could tell from the start needed improvement massively. Well the new 3ds provides that and the XL still small in my hands works better than the non-xl.

Currently I only own monster hunter 3 unlimited, and xenoblades chronicles, its good that xenoblade isn't just a gamestop exclusive any more they were wanting $80.00 for it "used" because of the exclusive distrobution rights and fixed pricing on "new" copies they just labled all their new xenoblades for the wii  as used and started charing $20 more than the "new", I knew this from the employee's and this was corporate telling them this. Seriously fuck gamestop.

Anyways the difference is night and day between the old 3ds & the new 3ds, games tend to run faster with much much less frame rate issues, the 3d seems to pop a heck of alot more on nearly all 3d objects, doesn't really work for video files used in cutscenes though. Probably because cutscenes are actually a series of 2d images with no polygons being run in real time.

The only down side is the placement of the SD card is behind the battery, a lot of up roar happen because of this but look at the modern day cell phone. It really isn't a big deal  when you open it up. I actually have a habit of taking every thing I own apart and putting it back together so this is a warm welcome for me. This prevents kids from taking it out while saving and what not too.

The games resolution is still sub-hd, and the sound is just basic sterio no 7.1 here.  Mature games are very much to be desired here but it is a Nintendo system their target market is kids.

Dreamout update: Mouse cursors

In the past few months I have been continuously working on project dreamout, a template to build games from for construct 2 I've been working on. It is taking my ADV Menu template, and going to the next level. It isn't just a controls system with text menus any more.

This week I have added custom mouse cursors that work regardless of browser, due to construct2 bugs with certain ones with its own custom cursor system I have managed a work around.

Along with that I have added achievement support for various platforms, a achievement prompt system that works between layout to layout even.

It also has a fully functional 2d & 3d menu system which can easily be used. The 3d menu system is done using the video functionality of construct 2, which means the game is loading a video rather than a whole bunch of objects in a 3d space. It is a easy way to fake 3d, granted there are ways to render 3d inside of construct 2 using webgl & additional plugins, various platforms do not actually support this including various websites.

Also I have started to add an easy to manage monitization  system, but it is lacking web support for right now.

The game template now has a master include script that holds all shared preferences, this means the master template has to be included in every layout script, which means all the standardized code will work with it.

Right now the template is coded to support these platforms:  Ouya(kinda), Android, iOS, Newgrounds(adless), Gamejolt(adless), Google play, Windows(*adless), Mac(*adless), Linux(*adless), ChromeOS/Chromebook(*adless), Websites(adless). Currently I am making a way to include ads into some of the adless, but certain platforms do not allow ads.

It has user customizable touch controls(placement wise), customizable keyboard controls, customizable gamepad controls.

This Dreamout template will be not just a update to the adv menu template, it is going to be sold seperately, at $9.99

It includes various custom made fonts, a PNG touch controls, 4 mini games showing how to use the controls, a custom mouse cursor, several generic sound effects, and much much more.

I plan on releasing this sometime in the fall of 2015, but it could take longer.

Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-111 Review

The acer chromebook 11 is a amazing affordable laptop. Want to not worry about viruses, spyware, and a annoying metro tile interface then this chromebook might be just for you. This x86 intel celron processor can do all the power of your web surfing experience.

Chromebooks use a custom linux distrobution provided by Google of course, but you can't run native linux applications on it, you can how ever duo boot a linux distro through croton, which must be enabled through enabling developer mode on your chromebook.  All of its applications are ran through chrome web browser, and only a few are customly made for chromebook and don't kinda.

Pretty much any device you hook up into it will work right off the bat, with no issue or problems, most don't even have to install drivers either so no long waiting time to use your devices with your chromebook.

Acer's chromebook 11 has 1 sd card slot, 1 usb3.0, 1 usb 2.0, 1 HDMI,  sterio sound(2 speakers), a decent web cam.

The Chromebook 11 has 2gb of ram, a 1366x768 60 hz, display.

With a new chromebook 11, you can have 100gb of cloud storage for 2 years with google drive.
It has a small 16gb of flash storage space for its local storage, so usb & sd cards isn't quite required but it can help massively. It has a 802.11ac wireless card which claims to be 3x faster.

VBA-m chromebook GBA emulator Review

Screenshot on Acer Chromebook 11" CB3-111

This emulator isn't only limited to chromebooks, it also works in google chrome web browser, but I ran this off a chromebook using a Ouya Controller, and Corsair Gaming h2100 headset.

As you can see from the screenshot it can't do fullscreen. The only options are import saves, and use gamepad setting. There isn't any customization for controls, sound, video, or anything else.

Screenshot on Acer Chromebook 11" CB3-111

In terms of sound there is some distortion, with graphics there is too obviously. You are set to a very strict resolution which makes the emulator actually difficult to play games. It plays games but that is about all it does, there is no customization what so ever with it. There are save states too but only up to 9.

It can't load roms with spaces, special characters, or inside of a zip file. It works offline though, but can't load roms from cloud storage, which on a chromebook is a big deal, you need external storage or can't do much either.

This application was last updated in 2014 so it is more than likely abandonware.

It is really not the worst I've used but it is a bare bone emulator, and hardly useable but it works with chromebooks and web.

Web Quake for chromebook

Download: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/web-quake/ibkbfanmkmadbbgggonficloplenbefh?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher

Quake brought to chromebook, and wow it works kinda. For a port this one is actually really good for web, but there are some problems like multiplayer not working exactly, and this being the shareware version. But it works, its good old quake, and its free and plays in chrome os.

The multiplayer works p2p and you can't host a server on it. I'm not able to get it to work multiplayer wise but single player wise it runs, it plays, but not perfectly. Of course it has the good old jaggy animation issues but frames have dropped

It's last update was in 2014, so this could very well be abandonware. So it is a 2.5/5 experience really since you can't unlock it fully either.

Review: Corsair Vengeance K70 gaming keyboard

Corsair Gaming Keyboard K70,
Picture taken from Apple Iphone 5
This light up red cherry MX mechanical keyboard is a match for me. It works lightning fast with no slow down time typing, no mistakes, and very actual may I say fun to use for gaming, programming, and makes everything easier. The keys are raised keys so cleaning this thing is so easy a child could do it. It has different light up modes to show gaming control schemes. Has 1 usb 3.0 slot on it has various function keys for sound and music along with brightness,

Near instant response with zero delay. The only down size is the keyboard takes up 2 usb slots on your computer with a very thick usb Y cord.  It has a bios switch which each mode works with different motherboard bio's for compatibility. For the price of $129.99 it really is a good quality mechanical keyboard.

Corsair Gaming Wireless Headset H2100 Review

Corsair Gaming Wireless Headset h2100

Puts wired headphones in their place

These headphones are simply amazing, with 7.1 surround sound wirelessness. The problems of previous headphones I have had are not here. Wired headphones have always broke within a few months because the wire, but before that the sound usually dulls out, cuts down, and fades in and out. Some even start outputting random noise from cross-talk, and high pitch sequels along with wire damage. In wireless headphones their is always a range issue but in older wireless headphones I couldn't walk 5 feet away from the receiver without running into cutout issues. With this, I can go across half the house, and it still works.

These headphones are amazing. The only down fall to them is the battery life is only a few hours. They give you a decently long charging cord though, but the port is a bit too tight.

Playing games is fun I can pin point exactly where sources are coming from faster so in a FPS it is like cheating almost.

Listening to music is the most amazing experience I have had by far, WAY WAY better than crappy Beats try to claim they are the best when they cut sound down and frequencies which means they cut notes out and certain octates on beats are completely missing, not on these headphones.

The only apeal I would change on this thing is the color, yellow is ugly but if you can look past that and its bad battery life it is simply amazing. Then the next issue is it costs $99.99-129.99 depending where you go. There are other headphones out there in the same price range that do the same thing, and work about as good too, but if you have the money I say get these ones unless you are looking for a PC/Console pair of headphones, because these headphones don't really work with any consoles, just pc. They do how ever work with linux, & chromebooks.

Construct 2 Well made Script Design

If you are new to construct 2 and never really did any programming before, there is a nature to the act of programming. You want to be able to use code over and over and over again. This means you will want to create a script that can be used for many layouts rather than one. This cuts down on events, cuts down on loading time, and makes your application/game more dynamic.

So a good way to do something like this is create a script for each and every little thing, include it into a shared preferences script, and then include those shared preferences within your layout scripts.

Having a script like this that references your shared scripts mean you only need to have the events setup once, and you do not need to setup includes massively, it allows for "cleaner code" mentality. Having things used multiple times coded such as video sound settings, ads, achievements, custom buttons, esc.... Allows you to re-use the code from layout script to layout script especially if you set it up right with webstorage loading on start of layout and saving on end of layout.

Remember this practice if it is used more than once make a separate script for it, and reference it anywhere it is used. If it is used throughout the project as a whole use a master include or shared preference script such as the one shown above.

WoW!! Service Review

If you are thinking of getting WoW!!! Internet service, cable, and phone provider do yourself a favor and look on further. Their service is terrible, packets drop left & right, which means your internet connection drops in and out all the time, not to mention random maintenance, constant claims of security breaches, and constant claims of DDOS attacks and DNS server attacks. Which all translates into a unreliable service. You pay to get disconnected DAILY, if you want to play any games online FORGET IT. You are lucky to load a webpage with their service, I have had to deal with them for years, and they have only gotten worse over time with their stability.

They charge you so freak-en much per month, and it doubles and triples if you have more cableboxes which each TV now requires a cable BOX. So it is ridiculously easy for it to happen. Things like youtube forget about using, forget about doing anything you couldn't do on dail up because you might as well be on dail up paying 20x the price for it. WoW!! constantly "wins" awards and show boats about it, their customer service is useless they don't help you, they just avoid the issues and problems.

Construct 2, custom Mouse Cursor fix workaround & animated

So if you are trying to set your mouse cursor to a sprite right now you may be running into issues with it on IE & Chrome. It may not let you or only let you set it once, along with that you may want your mouse cursor to be animated and treated better as a object with properties a mouse might not be able to give.

First things first create your mouse cursor image.

Then once you have that made you will need to import it into construct 2 as a sprite object.

Load the image where ever you have saved it into the actual sprite object, if you have it animated you will want to look at the animation bar at the bottom and import them that way by right clicking and by file, or just manually adding each frame of animation.

You will of course need to import the construct 2 mouse plugin object into your project some where

Next thing you will need to do is create a on start of layout event, in that event you need set the mouse cursor style to None.

Then after that you need to have it create your mouse image sprite object on the top layer x = mouse.x: y = mouse.y.

The final step is to have it always update to the mouse's position. So you create a on every tick event, and in it you create a action to set position of your sprite object to mouse.x & mouse.y

In the end it should look like this:
