One man Developer teams

There was a time where it was common practice to make a game with a single person. In todays world you would basically get yelled at by the average gamer with a list of complaints over a mile long even with a small developer team. The problem is the gaming market isn't what it use to be. Making a game by your self can be impossibly hard if you are trying to please others. Most one man developer teams for games never release their content or only release it amoungst a small community and even that is becoming rarer and rarer. When you make a game entirely by yourself now a days and release it you will get very little recognition if you release it into "the wild" places such google play, and windows 8 app store(where it be because lack of users, barried in a sea of apps, or microsoft burring content), you will be lucky to recieve any feed back at all you can understand. Most of the complaints I got about my games were in entirely different languages in entirely different countries, guessing only because either promoting is either worthless to those markets or because its only visible to them.

Yes when you publish something to google play or windows 8 app store it will be practically impossible to find and both bing and google lie to you only showing your content first to you to make you think they are promoting it but when you are not signed in and you login from a completely different IP your apps may or may not even be visible at all even in the store searches.

Releasing to a small community, or using a different system that doesn't screw you over may be the best idea.

Happyness IS it really overrated?

I find many people now trying to pass this arguement off that Happiness and everything related to it is over rated. Including love, hope, belives, freewill, freedom, and happiness is overrated. I find these people are very unhappy over a cerciamstance that they have been deprived of it in which they feel everyone should be because they have been. Such as Steven Hawkings himself and his arguement that everything we do is because of chemical reactions in our brains and the process of which is the process we call freewill and its all predetermined. I can easily throw this theory out the window with the simple fact that freewill is a shared idealism, that chemical reactions in our brain are not always predetermined. For example shoving z amount of x chemical into y brain cell will reacte entirely differently if the z amount is different, along with that those chemical reactions could say you want lets say a banana, you have none, so you get a hot pepper instead on reaction with no thought process put into that. What made you switch so quickly? A chemical in your brain saying you need a potasiam to one of vitiam C? I move that Steven Hawking was emotionally compromised when he came up with that theory in which he has viguriouslly tried to prove due to his own unhappiness and depression due to his own lack of freedom, and felt others should feel as they have none themselves. Freedom comes from a feeling of ablity of doing a action, to deny the right for one denies the right for all as crushing one crushes all, freedom comes from within, but is also shared amoungst all men. If Steven Hawking wants to feel free he should be askiing himself how exactly he is limited, and what is doing it. Crushing all of us is not the answer. If you are not free, how an any man be?

Many wealthy have stated poor/middle class should never be happy because they shouldn't have freedom, hope, happiness, freedom, or believes because they should be mindless workers that gain them more money. They are greedy and feel they need more of what they value because it will some how make them happy. Love is the strong feelings of happiness, sentimental attatchment to a person, place, action, or thing. Caring for it, wealthy feel that happiness is gained by denying others of these ideals will make them more happy while extending their own rights to these idealisms. They feel they must make others suffer to be able to get what they want in life. If making others suffer is what they want in life that is about the only thing it actually accoplishes. Happiness comes from within, and love comes happiness. Yes you can find happiness in money, but you should never try to deprive others of happiness and even worse love over class, this will over time make others see you who you are. A monster, destroying others happiness for your own.

If any of these feelings are over rated why do you feel you must have them while denying others the right to them?

unity 3d game engine is crazy easy

Saying unity is easyer than directx is a understatement. Unity is one of the easyest ways to create a 3d game I have ever done before. I have used a lot of game engines in my day and unity is like the construct 2 of 3d games DERP FREAKEN EASY. SOOOOO FREAKEN EASY THAT ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS JAVASCRIPT OR C# AND BOOM, you can use it to its full potiential. You don't even need to know that much just the basics of the syntax, and basic concepts of logic.

I can not describe how easy this is compared to everything else I have used to try to make 3d games. Its easyer than modding 3d existing such as half life2 games and creating new game modes within them. I should know I did that for YEARS...... too bad most of those mods where taken down on sites like gamebanana/fpsbanana, moddb, and various other sites that went down over the years and never uploaded else were.... Thousands of hours of work for some of these maps gone, with nothing to gain.... Especially those gmod9 mods I did that are now entirely useless... THANKS GARRY FOR BREAKING GMOD9..... douchebag..... Some of my best works were zombie master maps years ago, my old computer fried with them on it, harddrive dead...

Enough talking about modding......

Unity 3d has plenty of premade code and materials called packages these make everything easyer. Ontop of all of that the unity libraries add in a lot of code to make the job a million times easyer, so if you want to not use packages you can simply re-invent the wheel rather easy. Like just grabbing a input state is as easy as "Input.GetButton ("Jump")" without having to define what "Jump" is, it will work on keyboard, and gamepads. By gamepads I don't mean just xinput bullcrap gamepads that microsoft tries to shove down our throats so they can print money. I mean DirectInput gamepads aswell, including wireless bluetooth controllers. MOST gamepads register to computers as directinput gamepads or keyboard mapped gamepads.

So you can imagine if something like that is that easy. Unity practically does all the work for you...

Grid Iron Thunder released and abbandoned incomplete

Grid Iron thunder was a football designed to look like it was a NFL Blitz clone game that had a kickstarter back in august for the free the games event for the Ouya. The game was already finished practically with a release date set to only a week after the kickstarter ending(in September) and delayed all the way till early December, with claims that they will work on the game more and put their goals in it. 2 months after release none of the kickstarter goals being reached, not even rewards such as wristbands being sent to the backers they promissed actual items to. None of the money went into the game, and there was litterally no reason for the kickstarter other than to take pre-orders and take "free" money from people MogoTXT mislead.

Now they have a new game out already, and it looks far worse than GridIron Thunder. It's called Full court Thunder its a basket ball game..trying to look like NBA Jam.. With really bad animations, physics.... and some how managing to be worse than grid irons gameplay, a obvious cash grab at a smaller market with hopes to shove out incomplete game with promisses of improvement and never doing it... Do not buy Grid Iron Thunder, do not buy Full Court Basket ball, these games where made in a very short time using unity 3d game engine. Mogotxt rushed both games out with the goal of never being complete, fixed, or polished... MogoTXT tried to make the games look like modernization of games such as NFL Blitz(Nintendo 64) & NBA Jam, to mislead people, go buy those games instead....

How to hook up your Ouya controller in ubuntu 13.04/13.10

The first thing you will need is a computer with Ubuntu, and Bluetooth capabilities if you don't have Bluetooth capabilities you can purchase a USB Bluetooth dongle which will make your PC have Bluetooth capabilities.

You will want to click the bluetooth icon on the top right near the clock and shutdown options.
Then click "Set Up New Device", then press the ouya controllers sync button on the controller.  It should be visible, and once you click on it should add it if not you will have to do a work around.

The work around:
1.Open up your terminal and type this command:
hcitool scan

something like this should show up:

B8:5A:F7:C3:4F:FE           OUYA Game Controller

You will want to copy what ever shows up in the place of "B8:5A:F7:C3:4F:FE" as this maybe different for your controller.

sudo hidd (device address here)

if it says hidd is a unknown command you will need to run this command:

sudo apt-get install bluez-compat

then try
sudo hidd (device address here)

Then try pairing the device agian and it should work.

The gamepad touch pad and all its buttons work out of the box as a direct input device which most games that offer controller support aim for direct input controllers, so you should be good with no problems unlike with windows vista + with analog trigger issues..

Ouya team is working against its own users...

The ouya team has been recieving requests from users from core functionality to be patched in since beta launch of their system. One of these core functionalities is to change the background on your ouya system with out installing another launcher or something along those lines. For the most part the Ouya team has been completely ignoring those requests and only focusing on who knows what... After 4 months they did one of their much needed patches that fixed overscan issues, USB storage, and a obviously flawed graphical design in the background causing more confusion about the overscan issues... Within the winter update they put the winter themed background hidden in the data folder, which you do not have access too meaning you must root, the background for the holidays, you where able to replace it. A user on he ouya forums posted how to do it on their forums to tell people they can change it.

Here is the post: http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?8203-changing-background-image/page2&s=9398632a964992de95b450f1faa9c99d

The ouya team instead of keeping  that image file in there or allowing the users to view it on their ouya decided that it was a exploit that must be patched out instead of allowing users some control over the system they purchased that claimed to be open, but is filled to the rim with always online DRM, and locking the users down to the point where rooting makes very little difference.

This is abusing the only audience they have, causing people to leave the scene even more so.... This is the last chance I am giving the Ouya team, if they do not fix the problems within a few months I am saying screwya ouya, and canceling any and all projects I have for the system. I will also try to convince others that the Ouya is not worth it since they want to abuse its users so much. All people are asking for is to be able to change the background for their ouya and not be so locked down.... Always online DRM forced on the developers, which often have to create a work around system to not abuse their own users, this abuses the entire community which ouya team seems to be ignoring.

This wouldn't be the first case of problems people are having but ouya team ignored them. When the system was still in beta pretty much everyone noticed that there was a problem with the console if you where to have more than 1 controller connected, massive controller delay and incapablity to connect online. They tried to resolve this hardware issue with software patch that really didn't do anything. This was a hardware problem because the bluetooth & wifi nic interfer with one another, all the beta testers were ignored. So they released a faulty product because they failed to listen to their first market fans....

Online DRM quickly became noticable problem when games like towerfall full version could not be played offline. The developer in light of it tried to tell his fans that it isn't online drm he just forgot to add a cache key. Which basically means the online DRM key that is stored online isn't being saved in game. Meaning anytime someone buys a game on the ouya the developer has to setup a authorization system, and they have to setup a keylock system to lock people out and they must store that online key into a local key that turns off the content DRM from their free to play business model which if the developer does not account for a local key means the game has always online DRM, this includes games like Sonic CD, Sonic 4 e1&e2, Final Fantasy 3, and more more all have always online DRM just to allow you to play your games. This is a major problem with the ouya as it abuses the users and developers forcefully.

Been thinking a lot lately

Looking at what I am going to do with my life, I have many achievements, which only up till now have been a hindrance blocking me from achieving anything in life. I have little to no pass outside of those achievements and to the real world those achievements mean nothing. To a employer, friends, or family, they are meaningless because they do not understand the hardship, nor do they care. They don't care how many people I helped every year to survive in my service, as a scout donating my time to help the less forcheinet many times a year not just once... They don't care about survival skills I have learned, and could teach to those who need it or any information on technology I have learned I have learned through out my education. All they care about is how I can benefit them, and over time I have realized I am on my own, I find people not talking to me for who I am, or a shared interest rather how I can benefit them. None of them would ever have talked to me unless I talked to them for the first time or anytime.

As a river we are always changing as we go down the flow unable to ever go back, mistakes made, remorse, and regret are all things we must either accept or forget or we will be trapped under a log, still moving but unable to see in life, unhappy, and unwilling to move on if we hold on too tight to the past. We are who we are now not who we were. That is where I have been for a very long time, trapped under a log, I don't know how to get out other than let go of what is holding me under. But I am unwilling to let go because how far down this river I have gone the same path.

My whole life I never expected benefits from others, I have always expected more out of me than out of others. I found myself constantly being used to do things for people who other wise wouldn't for themselves completely forgetting about my own needs and wants. Being nice to people I shouldn't have, knowing they stole from me, used me for what I had, and other wise had no respect for me. I just felt everyone was this way including myself because I wanted the respect of atleast one person in my life, my family surely didn't. This is all of my past, I did so much for others without a care for my own needs.. I thought it would go on for ever.. Then I became useless to these people.. I ran out of money to spend... I became too depressed to do anything... going under that log.... All because I could not find happiness in life... No one care for me, just what they got out of me, and how it benefits them...

All of these ideals I hold on to tightly, all these achievements that no one cares about, all these people who cry, and die each and every single day that these people don't care about. Greed is the seed, in which I see in most people, atleast everyone I have encountered in life. I find myself with no friends, no family, no work, no hope. All because I am trapped under a log and each time I think I am out of it, my realization drags me down under it. I have no one here to care remotely about me at all, about what I did, just how I benefit them.
Most of my life I have been alone, but you can only be so alone for so long before it starts to bother you. In life I have faced rejection almost every opportunity, the only time I haven't is when it benefited someone else, and usually its something I don't want to do but I do it anyways at the hope that someone may actually care. They don't....I care about everyone I meet... I just can't come to terms with how alone I am...

I can not forget, I can not accept because I been under this log my whole life as long as I can remember. Never happy.... I don't even know what true happiness is. I fake the emotion in front of others, I fake joy, excitement, I fake it all just to try to connect with someone... I never am able to... I am rejected nearly the moment I am seen, I see it in peoples eyes, hear it in their voices, and when ever I try to get close to someone, I find them lieing to me, telling me stories to avoid communication about themselves, myself, and a relationship....

This is why I am trapped under a log I am rejected by the world... As a kid I said I always wanted to be alone, lieing to myself... telling myself that its better this way.... that if the world doesn't want me f* the world... While my actions said very differently... trying to get anyone to even remotely be nice to me . The only time people were, it felt fake. It felt like they wanted benefits from me other than acknowledgement of existence, it felt like finicial benefit or a task in which they did not want to do themselves.

C++ is it really hard?

C++ much like most programming languages is a method to making programming software easier. I use to question why people have a hard time with it after taking many many programming courses leading up to it. I found the language itself to be rather easy long before I took any courses in college. I found it to be very very very easy, but that was then, after taking my first C++ course I began to understand why people said its hard, not realizing what the real problem is. My first C++ course I took was a 8 week online course, I did pass it just fine, even with a conflict of interests with the instructor, forcing visual studio on me rather than letting me use the GNU C++ compiler, because what visual studio saw as bugs the GNU C++ compiler didn't and it resolved those issues because it wasn't a bastardized form of C++, it was more native.

I recently started taking more C++ courses, C++ 2 & C++ with directx. I already have my degree but I wanted to take these courses for a certificate more or less stating that I am skilled in C++. I found that these recent courses with 2 entirely different instructors, and 2 entirely different teaching methods to be the reason why people consider it hard.

I find instructors that try to hard to force to program the exact same way they want, in which what they want they don't describe usually that well, a majority of the students are failing, dropping out, and quitting their program all together because the instructor is too hard on them. They don't allow them to learn the language rather their practices in which they want to force on to others. Which are good practices yes, but if a student fails to follow those practices and make the program exactly the way you want without telling them what they want this is setting them up for failure, and to come to the conclusion that it is too hard for them rather than teaching them. This is one of the two instructors I have nows teaching methodology, there is no slack what so ever, 1 mistake can land you a failing grade even if it is a interpenetration problem. Luckily the instructor I have is very generous compared to others I have had and allows you to re-do if it is some big assignment.

The other teaching methodology is one that is more about getting the problem delt with rather than how exactly you do it. Leaving the problem solving up to the student, but again I find a problem with this methodology as it makes the courses way too easy, with very quick fast learning, which most people forget if they don't use making it more difficult for the students down the road in the real world, because they have this messy sort of practices that makes the code entirely unreadable. Along with that often I find students with more questions than answers to solutions, such as how does this exactly work like its some foreign language to them for the libraries and functions they use. You could show them it and they still wouldn't get it down. Students from these classes are learning more than they would about how to do things rather than how things work.

Both methodologies are pretty common I have had both methodologies before with various instructors within courses designed for many different fields. The problem with both is they have a greater fault  in the out term of teaching, they both work to a degree, but they both have problems, in which brings me to question more how would these problems be solved to not detour people from programming, and put themselves down.

I find C++ really easy on its own, but the problem is trying to not only get others to feel the same way but to show them. I recommend if you are in these positions ever in the course of trying to take courses from a college to sit down collect your thoughts and consider that it might not be your fault, don't beat yourselfs up because that is only going to make the problem worse with trying to learn a language.

Ouya faceplates delayed....

If you are a Ouya this should be no surprised.... back when colored faceplates for your controllers where announced and starting pre-orders the date was supposively set to sometime in February. They now pushed it back to March.... so for ouya owners who pre-ordered the faceplates earily you will need to wait another month... hopefully they don't delay it again.... Decal girls decals would probably be a better choice anyways..

Sega Saturn netlink

Many people thought that the Dreamcast was the first video game console was the first one with online play, this is clearly not true. Many people will argue that the n64's disc drive added network capabilities, and yes it did but again it was released only in japan just like the genesis modem.  The n64dd was released after the dreamcast though. But long before that there have been many addon devices that supposively added network capabilities, some like the link cable for gameboys, and the link cable for the genesis for a single game. But none of those added true online network play just local. The NetLink cartage adapter for the sega saturn allowed online network play, but due to failure to advertise very few developers even knew about it at the time, and failure to actually sell alot of systems for the same exact reasons, thinking that people will buy because the name Sega is attached to it with very little effort in advertising. Sega spent a lot on the genesis's advertising so much that the genesis was still selling more than the saturn was far after the Saturn was out.

The Sega Saturn Netlink adpater would allow you dial into a friends sega saturn and play games like duke nukem 3d. You can also use the Netlink Adapter to web browse and even send emails through the planetnet browser. Now the Netlink adapter cartages you may look at as one of the most obscure accessories for the sega saturn that adds to it, but there are some accessories for the netlink adapter including a mini-Din keyboard adapter.

The problem with using it today is you will need a dailup ISP, this being a huge problem with trying to use the device today. You need it because you have to dail into your ISP,login and then you can finally use it. Without it, but the other problem is once you get onto a website you can only load html 1.0 & some2.0 sites.  So again for todays use its not practical samething with the email being too advance for the device. The only thing that kinda works is the email, but you will want the mouse and keyboard accessories.

If you want to play games though you will need to plug it into a phone line, you do not need a dial- up ISP. This means you will have to pay for the phonecall itself.

For games if you don't mind paying the phonecall fees for possibly long distance phone calls to another sega saturn then I can say go for it keeping in mind there are only 5 games that have netlink capabilities. If you do mind I can not recormend the device, and if you want to use it to the fullest extent I can not recormend the device.

Ouya Emulation box: how it fairs out

Now yes there are plenty of guides talking about emulators you can get for the ouya, I have seen a few, but I am not going to copy paste their works because this isn't a guide just a look at my experience with it.
I have been able to emulate many many systems, but some emulators required my ouya to be rooted inorder to install googleplay, now all of the games I have owned in one form or another, and still do own in some way. Now I was able to emulate the atari 2600, master system, nes, snes, megadrive/genesis, comidore 64, Gameboy, Gameboy color, Gameboy advance, n64, nintendo ds, saturn, DOS, PSP, Dreamcast, and Gamegear.

The Problem emulators:

I guess I will start from worst to best....

Sega Dreamcast: I couldn't get one game to even work granted the only emulator for the system has basically been in development hell for a long time, I really am doubting that any work is being done on it to fix any problems with it.

PSP: I got a few games to work with the PPSSPP emulator but it seems to me that it has a lot of problems and couldn't get it to play a single game to work without bugs everywhere, the only games I even got working I didn't want to play....

Sega Saturn: I got a few games to work with Saturn.emu just mostly basic 2d games I got to work, any 3d ones didn't want to work.

nintendo ds:
Plenty of games do work, but there is plenty that don't with the nds4Droid, like a good 1/2 of my games just don't work, which makes me a little upset, like any tony hawk games, nope, metroid prime hunters nope, resident evil deadly silence worked on start up but crashed 1/2 way through the game.

Nintendo 64:

Plenty of games work but most have graphics glitches, some games are completely unplayable like Majora's Mask, and games like smashbro's have frame rate issues at times and all the characters faces are just gone. Its actually funny kinda. But I only used Mupen64 I heard there are better ones out there that you can just sideload. some games wont even run but its more common to have graphical glitches than completely crash

The good emulators

(they still have some problems just no where near as much again worst to greatest)

PS1: Most games work with FPse but the problem with is it requires a lot of setting up, because sony made it hard on emulation software you have to actually go out of your way to get the Bios. Other than that most games work, but I have had trouble with Resident evil 2 crashing randomly. I think it has to deal with mostly the bigger games are they more problems I been having with this one, including ff7.

DOS : requires Rooting to install googleplay store, requires a keyboard hooked up, but other than that everything works. You do have to purchase this one

Snes: SuperGnes has a lot of options, but they took a few out of the ouya version like idk custom controls, now my usb snes controller doesn't even work with it.... Makes me angry that I can't get my snes controller to work with a snes emulator.. other than that it runs perfect.

Gamegear/Master system: MasterGear requires googleplay, You do have to purchase this one too but with little configuration you should be ready to go. Turning off Hardware Acceleration, & Sync Display & lowering Frames to Draw to 80% or lower will cause the game to speed up, run better performance but... You will want to turn on Scale Video& stretch video, this will get rid of a game image buffering probem. You will also want to set a start button since the ouya doesn't have 1 that is compatible with this emulator in the key mapping. Its not a hard setup and this emulator even has netplay to bad it isn't setup with a system like kailera, where you can see what others are playing, you have to type in your friends IP manually, you would think charging $4.99 for a emulator would be to cover the costs.....

NES: EMUya has a bunch of free public domain homebrew games included with it but loading in, has a lot of extra features such as replays and community voting. You can't load in compressed games only the pure rom folder. Image is extremly distorted on most games with rendering issues and sounds are too. You can assign controllers to who is what player instead of playing musical controllers though.

2600/Megadrive/GB/GBC/GBA: .emu emulators All of these use the same menu systems, they all work with all the games I put in them, and they all can find wiimotes. The saturn emulator actually is a .emu emulator but it was a alpha when I downloaded it so that is why its probably broken. All of these are FREE. But are very simple Emulators. Most games are pixel perfect and sounds on the right pitch and beat for the most part.

Conclusion:

I can't stress this enough that the ouya is a good android device, if you are not interested in the games on it then I can tell you how ever that maybe it is not the best choice to emulate on alone, it makes it better to play a game together, with most of these emulators offering some form of multiplayer on a hdmi display device such as a HDTV that is easy to take elsewhere with ease.

Yes you can do it with a laptop as well as some smartphones and tablets but you also have a library of games with controller support and a few exclusives worth at least looking at.

A tired out look, on gaming

Many gamers will state oh no my favorite genera isn't being recognized as much and the market is over saturated with genera 'B''s work because game 'A' is a genera 'B' has more recognition it automatically makes everything in genera 'B' bad and over saturated regardless of game 'A' being part of a very specific nitch sub-genera.

How many times could you do this, replace 'B' with basically any genera and A with any popular title, from any decade, any generation for any fanbase?

I understand you are upset because the reason you play games isn't as popular as others. But you are not everybody and your views are only based on the local region your in, with a conflict of interests of what is within your regions market. Take a look at japanese market, vs korea, vs china, vs USA, vs Europe, vs Russian markets and you will find that you can easily replace 'B' with just about any dominate-genera followed by what ever is the most popular title replacing 'A' of it.

For instance I hear all the time in the USA users that there isn't enough JRPG's, while looking at Japans market I can find that to be actually the majority of games, nearly matching the dating sim games. They also claim FPS's have taken over the market in raged because of game 'A', Call of Duty in this case. In most markets we can actually not only import games but buy games from other markets online without any problems for the most part. The problem I find with this is its mostly people complaining about it not being on their preference choice of platforms, mostly consoles. In that case I wouldn't know how to respond, other than maybe they should choose their preference based on the games instead of brand names.

People seem to be lost in their obession of defending brands aswell instead of looking at what their brand is doing to them, looking at what the games are also doing to the users. I have been for a very long time and when you hear about users being abused, banned, sued, or punished unfairly if you don't look at what these companies are doing then you are surely just granting them the power to do these things.

Read any documentation that requires you to agree to something even if it is implied that you agreed to it on purchasing it.

Halo 2 Anniversary release Rumors

Halo 2 Anniversary rumors are floating about everywhere practically now, unlike most people I am not going to tackle weather its true or not but rather why would fans want another re-release. Halo 2 was technicly already re-released with graphical improvements on PC, in its core its not a new game. It could be basically 343 industries take on it but it would seem that 343 industries just released a halo game, and its terrible so what makes the most extreme halo fans think this will be any different? If you want to know what halo game I am talking about I already did a review on it here : http://undeadbobop.blogspot.com/2014/01/halo-spartan-assault-review.html

Microsoft seems to think the way of always online DRM like that found in the latest halo game, and microtransactions for even the smallest things you do each time you do them is the future. I wouldn't want to invest into that, too bad no one warned me about the latest halo game, and too bad microsoft has been lieing to millions of their own supporters. Every last person that owns a xbox one they lied to by telling them that this always online DRM isn't there, when its very much present in. The fact of the matter is if you own halo 2 for pc there is litterally no reason to even get 343 take on it other than things that they may add to it, granted if they pull the same business model as halo spartan assault I don't think anyone will want it. Just humor me and read my Halo Spartan Assault review if you want to know why I am saying this.

None of my information comes from this but just in case you haven't seen the rumors yourself: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/30/halo-2-anniversary-rumoured-for-xbox-one-release

Ouya 16gb version release

During the holiday season there was a exclusive white ouya released with 16 gb and various hardware upgrades, it looks like they are now selling a black 16gb with again various hardware upgrades from the launch model which claims to improve wireless, which was a very real problem with the Ouya launch models which caused mass input lag and wifi connection issues, especially when you had 4 players all with ouya controllers.

Which the only solution to the problem was turning off wifi or using all wired controllers, which all the games unless stored locally have this DRM that downgrades you to the free version, this is actually a developer side issue that many developers including square-unix & sega didn't actually address. Its actually kinda sad that the only developer that got outlash for this was Matt the developer of Tower Fall because it effected the ouya's equivalent of smash bros which it just lost exclusivity over, and really is now outdated in comparison to the pc port. You can't blame him though.  I actually was more mad at ouya than the developers for their implementation of this DRM which is clearly being done wrong.

So basically you either play with a usb hub with a bunch of controllers plugged in or you play with wifi turnned off, unable to play most of your games and emulators full versions, unless you get lucky and you play a game that has actually programmed it themself to look for a local key stored in the game save files. Which makes piracy even easier, then storing it on some locked part of the system. But here is my question, why claim to be open then abuse your consumers, and your developers burning all their bridges.  The other question should be why wasn't these ammature hardware design mistakes fixed sooner with the wireless nic & bluetooth, and why is the hardware problem the same when they should have been 2 separate peaces on the mobo to begin with or atleast on their launch day at stores. These problems should have been realized during early testing phases.

When purchasing a game it should locally store a key on the users machine as well as on the authorization servers. This should not be cached local storage in game rather through the attempt of accessing the server it should try to first try accessing it stored on the system.  Not only does this abuse the developers but the consumers that have to put up with it. This single 1 problem with the DRM of purchasing games has been one of the major problems with the ouya business model wise because it basically forces developers to abuse their consumers and burning their own bridges in doing so from out lash.

I think its honestly too late for them to convince anyone who hasn't bought it to buy it now, unless they get a big time studio to actually exclusively game, and reward the people who already own the system with something to appolize for releasing the Ouya Hardwarely flawed and atleast try to act like they care about their existing fans and users before they fade away. Even ouya owners are getting hit hard with buyers remorse.  With no way for the existing community to communicate on the physical system outside of the web browser it makes it difficult to do anything because developers are assuming someone else will make a app for it and ouya developers seem to be very slow on patching issues out of the system instead of improving their product outside of bugs that should have been ironed out in beta testing phases.

Granted I am still developing for the system, I just feel that the community is being ignored by the Ouya team and they don't seem to be taking them seriously. If they ever decide to launch Ouya 2.0 or w.e. they should actually work on marketing the system and having all these problems ironed out, with how long they are taking to iron out the first ouya's problems it makes me really wonder if anyone would want to buy another system from them. I definitly feel as I wouldn't unless several things were addressed first.
