GameJolt Releases 11/25/2014

I have been releasing some of my games on gamejolt, I just released 2 of my older games on there, one from 2013, the other from 2011 I want to say. I will be trying to find some of my older games and releasing them on gamejolt. A lot of games have either gone because broken hard drives, or are backup on storage devices or locations I have not really been in a long time. Some are on cloud storage services I no longer use, and ftp servers I no longer use. I will try to recover them and release them in what ever state they are in.

there is a graphical version but it is incompatible with py2exe because of livewires. I will try to set something up for this.

indies vs pewdiepie gamejam plans

I'm plan on participating in the game jam right now I am only thinking I will be doing it using construct 2, spriter, papagayo, gimp, and bfxr to make a simplistic game in the 72 hours time limit.

Right now I am just getting use to the tools I havn't used (spriter, papagayo, & bfxr) but I have been in events like this before with less time to finish a game, so hopefully I do better. If anyone wants to form  a team or be a part of mine I am open to it, but I should be fine on my own either way.

We are not allowed to start development till the time starts so keep that in mind. I am doing this for the fun of it, and every thing in this game jam is suppose to be free games as it is a gamejolt event. How ever we can use previously made scripts, tools, library's, or plugins. All the art and sound has to be made during the gamejam. This is actually the hard part, next to programming the whole thing.  I have a plan how I could do this entirely on my own with past experience with game jams.

I will be trying to stream this whole experience aswell, I am not sure weather I will do it on youtube or on twitch.

Projared steals criticism from Metacritic: Sonic BOOM

So sonic boom was released and apparently a lot of reviewers were mad because they had to buy the game like everyone else because no review copies were handed out in response to the sonic lost world reviews all being terribly bad without legimate reasons, most calling sonic lost world a mario galaxy rip off cash in with terrible controls. So basically all the people they handed review copies out to shat on the game, ask them now though and I am sure they will say sonic lost world is amazing, they did the samething with generations, colors, sonic 4, and so many others sonic titles. They print out terrible review compare it to terrible game, and try to soak in the views off the negative attention they get from their fans, and the people who actually played the game telling them they are wrong.

 So a few reviewers such as Projared who commonly copy paste reviews have resorted to copy pasting metacritic user reviews made on the game within the first 10 minuets of the game being released, most of which were saying the game was bad, saying the graphics are ps2 level and that the wiiu is terrible.

I made a joke video prior to jarreds review making fun of the metacritic reviews and someone raged at me saying how dare I make fun of Projared.  So I looked at his video and lone and behold he litterally copy pasted remarks made off of metacritic calling the game sonic 06 bad, saying that it is ps2 level graphics, complaining about the frame rate, saying it runs at all times lower than 15 frames a second while showing gameplay footage that is between 30-60 frames a second. Complaining about unimportant background textures that you can only see the graphical issues with it when you zoom the camera up real close like, all there. Complaining that there are game breaking glitches without being able to point out a single one.

Using gameplay footage of other people's play throughs without giving credit but when he was with screw attack he went after people who did commentaries of their reviews pulling their videos down for doing the samething basically.

He further insinuated that all exploration games are bad just to try to justify his claims of it being sonic 06 bad, shitting on games like Banjo, Crash, Spyro, Jak & Dexture, and much much more simply to try to call this game bad rating the game a 2/10.

I use to watch his videos but his reviews went all down hill since he left screw attack being way off, and not really consistant like he was copying them from elsewhere instead of actually playing the game and experiencing it for thimself.

If you want my opinions on the game I actually wrote a review, and posted it to metacritic precompletion because I enjoyed the game. I'm not saying the game is not bad or good, I am saying his reasons for it are that of from metacritic, literally paraphrased from it actually, made by bullshit reviews of the game. So much so I can make fun of the metacritic reviews and his fans get upset and think I was targeting him. I generally dislike most sonic games, and give plenty of them negative reviews, but I don't resort to stealing criticism from others.

Bfxr Make Sound Effects Review

For the longest time I have been making sound effects with software like golden wave, and music creator 6, not till now have I experienced a simplistic sound editing tool, each one has been over conflated with a lot of bells and whistles with very little control. Sure I could make music with those software but there comes a time and need for simplistic game sound effects, and I think that is where Bfxr exceeds the most. It is a sound effect tool that makes game sound effects that is free to use for any purpose. I can't highly recommend it enough.

Review: Sonic Boom, spoiler free

This game is almost up to crash bandicoot and is the closest thing to a modern interperation of it with sonic characters.

Personally over the years it has been discouraging to actually even try to make a game that pleases people because people feel they are so entitled as to think they are always right, nitpicking every small detail without looking at the bigger picture. No this isn't a 2d sonic game, no it isn't a sonic adventure game. The game was made by X-naughtydog employees, it has that naughtydog feel like racket & clank, and crash bandicoot.

The major problems with the game and rushed review's issue:
It is focused and centered at the very begining with extremely rushed stages, and a rushed tutorial, this whole section of the game is not a good interduction a lot of it could have been removed, and or edited down to not convilute and confuse the gamers. For instance the opening cutscene was entirely pointless and should have not been there, they should patch that whole scene out of the game, it just confuses people more.

Most of the reviews I see now a days just take a look at the first level maybe and poop out a review with a bad review score thinking they will get more views that way.

When you look at this game not as a sonic gotta go fast game and look at it as a naughtydog game which if it was it would be ps4 exclusive hyped up by sony fans.

Ps4 fanboys we all know you wrote alot of reviews simply because it wasn't on the ps4 and would be hyping up like it is the holy grail of gaming if it was, especailly if it had "Naughtdog" slapped on it.

As for the review:


The gameplay isn't like the standard sonic game were you just run fast with high flying action of player NOT the hell in controll, instead in this game it is a action platformer with exploration elements, with a combat system of 2 different types of attacks. A standard attack every characters is different, and a special attack. The special attacks for some characters seem really useless like knuckles break dance attack range is too small to actually hit anything without getting hit yourself. While sonics special attack actually is more of a combo move where there is 2 varients with feed back that feels like you are doing a lot more damage, thus more rewarding to do.

It is a more action adventure game that will leave you exploring but disappointed there are not enough secrets which causes you to search and look deeper for secrets instead of instant gradification like in other sonic games. It does treat you like you are dumb giving you tutorials and walks you through but only after the fact that you needed to know what it is you are suppose to do. Then at other times it nags you to do something you done a million times, and this is in the very beginning of the game.

About half way through they stfu, and you can actually play the game and have some fun, there are some puzzles that it actually does the right thing and doesn't tell you jack crap which can leave some people confused because they thought game was going to play them and not them play game.

Each character has their own abilities which are necessary to use to progress through the game, sometimes with additional puzzles, sometimes not.

They through in some batman like detective mode to make it easier to find the secrets but if you have played games with many secrets you should be able to instinctively know where they are. A few I missed though.

But for gamer's it should be fun, unless they are whiny entitled dinguses.
Voice acting: terrible... oh you want more to know on it well the voice... sonic + voice acting = always bad especially when you treat the gamer like they are stupid. Voice acting for the purpose of story mmmk, voice acting to tell me what each character is doing without telling me what they are doing BBBBADDDD...

There is upgrades and power glyphs, power glyphs are bonuses like more coins, more robot parts, more damage items that you can only equiped one at a time to each character. Upgrades are gotten through collecting enough crowns and robot parts, and can be found at upgrade stations.

this is a very 2 player co-op centered game but apparently there is a 4 player challenge mode I havn't gotten around to it.

Level design:

It is amazing you can clearly tell it is reminised of both spyro and crash bandicoot, many people were complaining saying the 2d sections are just trying to be like sonic generations and crap like that but they have 3d to 2d to 3d with levels designed exactly like crash bandicoot at parts and other parts were they were layed out exactly like spyros.

The bad:
Worst part of the game: Requires 3ds version of the game to unlock larger "wallets" which means more coins because you can only collect 100 coins and that is it. Coins are treated as health in this game so that is obviously a very flawed thing with this game which is why I am rating it so low unlike most of the whiny bastards on here without a actual legiment complaint about the actual game.

The best:
It reminds me a lot of the older crash bandicoot games mixed in with spyro with some racket and clank elements added on to it. The gameplay is solid while the story is bbbbbaddd, mostly due to the some of the voice acting and how many cut scenes are there in the beginning, some of the new characters are decent. The gameplay is solid but it really isn't the standard sonic game which doesn't make it a bad game.

It is a amazing game with amazing combat with amazing level design and amazing music, just terrible story, terrible voice acting, and not what the nitpicker army expected and even if it was they would still find problems with  it just because.

It is a crash bandicoot meets racket & clank game staring sonic characters.

TF2 Rare ODD Level Items

During the early days of team fortress 2 items had levels, levels were as arbitrary as they are now but they were not always a set level, most of those items were crafted how ever and destroyed or sold and levels reset.

Despite the desperation to sell these items I have kept a few, and seem to can't let go of.
Some I have sold though, One recent one was a level 34 vintage special killstreak Ubersaw

On doing so the level was reset to 10 on listing making them virtually less valuable.

While others I completely forgot that I had.

Review Nintendo eShop - Costume Quest 2

Costume Quest 2 is a sequal to costume quest, this game starts off where the other one ended. Within the first 5 minuets you will get bumped around a lot and it seems they are trying to do too much too quickly for you to be able to fully asorb what is going on if you go the rate the game expects you to. Costume quest 1 had me taking as long as possible exploring every inch of the screen for secrets and goodies, talking with NPC's provided a lot of help in costume quest 1, in this one there is a lot of useless NPC's so the exploration seems a bit more toned down. They still do have secrets but it wasn't anywhere near the same.

The game still brings that costume quest fun, it still has the same battle system but with different costumes with different ablities one of the first costumes you get is a super hero and a peice of candy corn. The candy corn can not attack, has no special ablities other than being a shield as it blocks better and takes less damage but can't do anything in battle but block.

It is very fun, just like the first game, it just has a few problems.

Final UPDATE: Construct 2 ADV Options template Pack

Nearly complete with this template project, only thing left is a simple main menu and making a template package with combined form factors. This combined template will be a large amount of events FYI but it will make games much much easier to make without having to worry about settings as much.

PS I am lowering the cost on these templates to a total of $7.99, reasoning is it will for the most part require personal licences at the very least for many of the templates.
