Mario Super Duper Cereal Review

You see Mario's Debut on the nintendo switch was so hyped up and brought the attention of the cereal products, in fact it was on nearly every Post box, and on some other boxes as well, but that isn't what I am going to review here today. Today I am going to be reviewing the lucky charms clone, Mario themed. Well right off the bat everyone can tell it is just with 1 ups, question blocks, and caps.

Now you might be wondering why would anyone buy a mario themed cereal? Well the cereal box also doubles as a amiibo, a toy with rfid chip that stores gamedata.  Now this amiibo has many usages for various games. Mainly in Super Mario Odyssey, which it's usage there the game it was made for is pretty worthless as it only gives you coins, which any amiibo will give you.  This "delicious" amiibo is literally worthless in the game it was made for, because 50 coins is stupid easy to get.

As for the cereal, is it really delicious? Now that all depends on your tastes. And in my tastes it is far worse than any lucky charms knock off then I have tried, and I have tried dollar store cereal before.  It's pretty bad, and the sad thing has to do with it is the texture came out all wrong due to the dye used to cut the shapes makes it kinda stale really fast due to the fact that the star shape normal non-marshmallow tips are so thin and spread out so far, giving most of its elements exposure time which makes it stale before even going into packaging. At Least that is what it tastes like it is doing, its very chalky even with milk.

So as cereal its pretty bad. As a amiibo it is the least worth getting as it functions the same as any amiibo on the game it was intended for. It's a novelty and with clearance amiibos flooding stores, I would recormend you save your money.

Retropi review in emulation

So I have had this device for some time, I've gotten more usage out of it than I have in the past year or so. So far I've tested almost the entire nes collection, atari 2600 collection, can't get 5200 games to work for some reason the emulator option won't show up in emulation station despite roms being there.  I have yet to run into issues with the genesis emulator

There is the occasional bugs that happen while emulating any game and it boils back to retroarch bugs which they will surely deny the existance of but there is no over looking, and no it isn't just a user error thing, it is just simply trying to use their menus while emulating a game, along with this trying to use their menus in general. I could go into further details but again besides for menus freezing litterally all of the time, retroarch community is in complete denial of any of any issues with "their software".... Despite the several software license violations.

Keep in mind I am using the raspberry pi 3b. Which has the fastest CPU speeds by default. The display I have it hooked up to aswell has no speakers meaning I can not test sound properly.

It works really well with the older systems, but once it hits dos it has some configuration issues out of the box, but my guess is it has to do with configuring dosbox, which will require a keyboard. Ports require keyboard almost all of the time.

Emulation of older is where this system is king. So that is what we will be talking about.

--------------Dream Cast Emulation------------------
The first issue you will run into is you need to download 2 bios files and rename the bios file to boot.

The next issues you will run into is that no matter the controller you use reicast(dreamcast emulator) will not register your already existing controller configurations, which will require a keyboard to help in configuration which you need to do in the retropi menu under retropi configurations, and under that you need to configure emulator and under that you will need to look for reicast, and after that there is only 1 option, then you will need to enter your controller's ID number right next to the device name, skip CDX buttons & dpad 2. After you are done with that you should be able to play your dreamcast games just fine. I used sonic adventure to test it out.

So far sonic adventure has all kind of framerate issues more than there was on the dreamcast, 20fps or less. Either due to a combination of the reicast, and the slow speeds of the raspberry pi seeing how I have seen so many reports of it not working on later pi's and past pi's without massive over clocking. There are a few graphical glitches, but usually they only last a few seconds and usually its on transition frames and loading sections

so pretty much it works, it plays, but not all that well.

-----------------------Nintendo 64---------------------

You do have emulation configuring needed out of the box, anything with transparency will have issues, any thing like banjo's puzzle opening animation will have issues even after configuration fixing.

They now share the same roms folder in more updated retropie OS updates.

Pretty much it works well with most games using the rice plugin, but the glide plugin does work well too.

Once you get the configuration just right there is still some issues like banjo's puzzle opening animations.

-------------------Sega Genesis / Megadrive ------------------------

Pretty much every game works, even sega CD & sega 32x games work.
The only thing worth mentioning is that the sega CD & 32x games go into seperate rom folders than the sega genesis / megadrive games do. they are promotly named sega32 & segacd.

--------------Atari 5600 Atari 7200----------------
I put the roms in the proper folders no such emulators show up in emulation station, I'm not sure how to get them to show.

---------------Sega Saturn-----------------

Much like the dreamcast emulator you will need to download the bios.
But unlike the dreamcast I can't get it to work at all.

--------------------- SNES, NES, Atari 2600 Atari 800, gameboy(C,A), gamegear, intellivision,esc...----
Work with no problems so far with anything else I have tested....
frame rate issues with 3ds & psp to the point of unplayablity with the few games I did test.

I've pretty much had a fun experience with all of this, minus the few issues I pointed out. There is some issues with some emulators and bugs any time you try to use retroarch functionality, there is a achievements system via http://retroachievements.org/ but only some emulators work and only some games have achievements.

Keep a keyboard always near by at the very least.

Installing and updating all of these emulators can take a great deal of time as well.

Halo Reach: Review Delay

Keep in mind I am writing this review in 2018, I am only reviewing the single player.
ONLY the single player, with NO XBL features, as the used xbox I bought was console bant and second hand. I got the game and only spent $30 for the system, a controller and the game.  Never trust facebook market place.

The review

--------------------------------Story (spoiler free)-------------------------------------------
(inaudioable)BLAH BLAH BLAH (20 mineuts later) WILL YOU EVER SHUT THE FUCK UP IF IT WASN"T FOR SUBTITLES I WOULDN"T EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. (3 mineuts later) FINALLY IT FUCKING STOPPED. (2 minuets later) TURN THIS MUSIC THE FUCK DOWN, (more iaudioable)BLAH BLAH BLAH, (5 mineuts later after muting the whole game), AHHHH Now I am finnally relaxed, I will just read the whole rest of the game.... (3 mineuts later), WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT IT DISAPPEARED RIGHT AFTER COMING IN, THE FUCK BUNGIE.

Ok ok enough of that,

This was one of bungies last halo games they worked on, and you could tell as the story was so foned in here.... the story wasn't good, it wasn't even decent, it was bleh, it was by all means bad, but not horrible. Some people apparently liked it from what I heard back in the day, but then again these same people would praze anything about halo even if it was a bad thing..... I honestly don't want to go into it as I didn't fully understand all of it, nor did I care to, it was just there and really felt not a proirity at all.

I mean sure I could have gone into details but it really doesn't matter, its halo its like a cheap pornoflick the story is expected to be there, and forced but it is entirely unneeded and it is so obvious that it is entirely unneeded here and the developers should have known this instead of forced cutscene, hallway, cutscene, light fight stupid easy, cutscene, cutscene lazy 13 enemy fight battle with a bunch of weak enemies and 1 strong with OP 1 hit kill, but making a big scene so easy to kill because long ass animation of him spotting you and slowly walking at you.

The gameplay is ok, it feels like the shooting mechanics have been slightly improved on the pistol is no longer OP,  weapon choices are expansive, and the controls feel more natural in terms of player movement.

Look speed is so heavily gimped how ever, I had to set it to insane just for it to be middle ground and its not like aiming matters since the game auto locks on to enemies meaning skill doesn't matter. Playing on higher difficulty just means more health for NPCs, more damage, and more of them.

WAY to many cutscenes to make it fun, and way to many scripted events ruin the flow of gameplay. Its a interactive movie experience through huge chunks of the game and often is hall ways the cutscene game. What little gameplay is here is semi-enjoyable only to the point in which the game decides to make it easier by creating events that basically just end the combat with no point to them as they are just getting passed being easy. IE a cutscene trigger event.

In other words cutscenes ruin this game, and design flaws everywhere.

This is where halo reach shines until you realize you are playing it in SD resolutions upscaled, with screen tearing verticle and horizontal and ghosting effects left & right on any objects moving, with almost no AA. The weapon models look amazing for a 360 game, looking closely at many of the models they tend to look decent but there are a few that are just look late ps2 days. But they are so far & between. The major issues with the graphics come from the ghosting effects & no AA with massive tearing.

---------------------------------Sound & Music -----------------------------------
Sound effects are there to exist, and they work, nothing special there.
Music is typical halo music, that I usually turn off in favor of my own choice of music, they are okay, some reused samples, some reused ideas, but nothing special. Don't get me wrong it just isn't exactly my cup of tea.

Keep in mind I am playing 8 years after the fact on a console that is console banned, I bought it second hand, and microshaft is dick. So I do not have access to any XBL functionality and can't even play lan if that is a thing. So pretty much its similar to halo3 ODST's multiplayer, and this is where the real game is so long as your not banned like I am.

Pretty much they could have scrapped the story made it online/local only and it would have still sold like golden shit nuggets as their future halo singleplayer only games show. (referring to halo spartan assault which did really really bad, and was complete and utter microtransactions the game.) The multiplayer is literally the only thing solid about this game, and the question is then how does it fair in comparison to other halo games?

Well it has jetpacks so that is a thing, but in comparison to Halo 1 & 2 PC release it is complete and utter garbage, those are the gold standards though. Compared to halo 3 still garbage, compared to odst. GARBAGE. The multiplayer has been dumbed down even further to be more familiar with COD players.

Halo fans hyped this game up and when it finally came out they used it to brag against the sony ponies, and nintendrones. Terms they used and made up themselves as they fought pointlessly over which console is the best console.

This game is a joke, now its just funnier to me that anyone would try to even use this game as a bragging right for console preference. I've played better alpha games. But hey that is the console war community. Nintendrones bragged about a water sports game that was like Extreme Paintball, Sony Ponies bragged about the vita, and PS home. All of them bragged about games that were multiplats so long as it wasn't on the opposite consoles. IE PS3/PC/PSP/PSvita/Phone games or 360/PC/Phone games or Wii/3ds/PC/phone games

But this game was a exclusive but made on PC and tested on PC and then never released on PC, and recompiled to xbox360 because that was the norm of the development cycle. This was true with most of the 360 games due to the nature of development on the 360.( I helped work on unreleased 360 games btw).

Take out the online multiplayer which makes up this game and what is left is a terrible story mode, pointless character customization, and even back then a struggle to find anyone willing to play local multiplayer. Its a crap game that can't stand on its own from the online portion and heavily depends on ragetastic kids screaming racial slurs over the mic. But that is still fine, it has a pointless single player and a meh online multiplayer. Its not a bad game because of that, its just not the gold it was made out to being. The gold it is a golden shit turd.

But with jetpacks and terrible level design. Halo 1, 2 and even 3 had 1000% better level design. This game is a fail in comparison to the rest with only a jetpack being its saving grace and that gets old fast.

I am so heavily disappointed in this game, it wasn't worth picking up 8 years ago, and it isn't now. This isn't the game that was described to me at all.

Voyage (Chillwave - Retrowave - Synthwave Mix)

Just chill music, I'm working on a few things this week for the site, but for now just relax.
I ran a few tests a few weeks back and it gave me a better more accurate idea of exactly who my audience is. Also the tests gave me a method for adding more content without adding more space to the over all layout. It has also given me a few ideas on what I can test and possibly implement next.
